    Abstract: The present invention relates to an electrode for a metallurgical vessel and to a cooling element for a wall of a metallurgical vessel. In particular, the present invention provides an electrode and a cooling element having a cavity, a device for cooling by spraying a cooling medium into the cavity, and a collecting device for collecting molten metal that breaks through the cavity. The present invention also relates to a DC arc furnace comprising at least one electrode of the present invention.
