  • Publication number: 20200233212
Abstract: Implementations described and claimed herein provide systems and methods for interaction between a user and a machine. In one implementation, a system is provided that receives an input from a user of a mobile machine which indicates or describes an object in the world. In one example, the user may gesture to the object which is detected by a visual sensor. In another example, the user may verbally describe the object which is detected by an audio sensor. The system receiving the input may then determine which object near the location of the user that the user is indicating. Such a determination may include utilizing known objects near the geographic location of the user or the autonomous or mobile machine.

  • Patent number: 9529936
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided that allow a user to send a search query and a hint associated with the search query to a search system. Suggested queries are associated with hints prior to the suggested queries being provided to a user interface that allows a user to enter search information into a search field. After receiving input into the search field, the input is sent to a search system and suggested queries with their associated hints are returned. In response to selecting a suggested query, the suggested query and the associated hint are returned to the search service. The search service then provides search results based on the suggested query and the associated hint.

  • Publication number: 20140240607
Abstract: When a set-top box determines to enter a low-power state, the set-top box determines a wake-up time based on a recording schedule, a maintenance schedule, and a boot spread. Before transitioning to the low-power state, the set-top box sends a message to a schedule server with the wake-up time. The server provides services to many set-top boxes. The server uses a wake-up time schedule that includes the wake-up times for the set-top boxes that it services to determine if the wake-up time will create too much load for the server given the set-top boxes already scheduled to wake-up around the wake-up time. If the proposed wake-up time will not create too much load, the server may respond to the set-top box that the proposed wake-up is acceptable. If not, the server may propose a new wake-up time based on the schedule.
