    Abstract: A brace for treating an ankle comprises an elastic sleeve having a plurality of elastic straps secured to the sleeve. The sleeve is attached to the patient's ankle, and the elastic straps are wrapped around the ankle. The straps are designed to extend parallel to and support particular ligaments and/or muscles to provide efficient treatment of the ankle. In accordance with a method, the ankle is cast in plaster of paris and the elastic straps are accurately located with respect to the relevant ligaments and tendons of the patient.
