  • Patent number: 9581531
Abstract: A yarn entanglement strength tester includes first and second rolls that apply incrementally increasing elongation levels on a yarn in order to remove entanglements from the yarn. The yarn entanglement strength tester also includes a third roll, where the second and third rolls apply a constant tension on the yarn which enables optimum diameter measurements of the yarn by a camera. The camera captures images of diameters of the yarn after each of the incrementally increasing elongation levels is applied to the yarn. The yarn entanglement strength tester further includes a computing device that controls operation of the camera and the first, second, and third rolls, and determines an entanglement strength of the yarn based on the captured images of the diameters of the yarn after each of the incrementally increasing elongation levels is applied to the yarn.

  • Publication number: 20170006380
Abstract: When an in-ear earbud is inserted into the ear canal, a front side sealed enclosure is created. The enclosure volume is sealed at the near end by the in-ear earbud and at the far end by the eardrum. The air trapped in the ear canal provides a stiff reactive volume that is comparable to the rear sealed enclosure volume provided by the earbud housing. An in-ear earbud simulator that closely replicates the ear canal volume and shape permits real-use measurements of the in-ear earbud frequency response. Such measurements lead to a transfer function that provides a frequency near flat frequency response. The transfer function is implemented with first order high pass and first order low pass circuits, either analog or digital in their embodiment. Additionally use of the approach for speech comprehension enhancement for cell phone conversations is implemented.

  • Patent number: 9364699
Abstract: An inflatable recreation device is formed of a plurality of inflatable donut-shaped tubular members secured in stacked configuration and having an opening extending therethrough. With a first end of the plurality of stacked members facing upwardly, a rebound surface secured to the first end extends over a first end of the opening to form a rebound surface upon which a user can jump. When the device is turned over, the rebound surface faces downwardly to form a bottom of the opening and a second end of the plurality of stacked members and the opening face upwardly whereby users can sit around the second end of the stacked members with feet extending into the opening, or can walk around the second end as a balance beam. Further, the stacked members can be turned on their side and rolled with users inside the opening.

  • Patent number: 9008399
Abstract: A system and method for simultaneously generating spectral images and spatial images of a subject using a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system includes acquiring MR image data using a k-space sampling trajectory. The k-space sampling trajectory is designed to spatially oversample to elicit phase differences between oversampled points. The MR image data is jointly reconstructed into spatial and spectral images by resolving spatial information from spatial encoding associated with each of the oversampled points and resolving spectral information from the phase differences between the oversampled points.

  • Publication number: 20150079353
Abstract: A cloth includes a scrim backing and an aluminized coating heat pressed to either or both sides of the scrim, preferably between rollers which apply pressure to the scrim and the coating at a temperature selected to cause the coating to adhere to the scrim. If the scrim is dimpled, the heated aluminized plastic flows into the dimples, enhancing the bonding of the coating to the scrim and also at least partially filling the dimples to provide a smoother reflective finish than the uncoated surface of the scrim. If the scrim is not already dimpled, the surface of the pressing rollers can be selected to provide the desired dimpling. The scrim strengthens the cloth against tearing, stretching and distortion. The coating provides a radiant barrier. The resulting cloth is thin, lightweight, easily manipulated, thermally efficient, extremely “quiet” and especially well suited to hunting or other natural-environment activities.
