Abstract: The anti-cavitation device comprises a housing and valve assembly. A fluid end comprises one or more intake chambers, one or more exhaust chambers, a compression chamber, a plunger chamber, and one or more intake manifolds. The intake manifolds are fluidly connected to the intake chambers such that the intake manifolds are adapted to deliver the hydraulic fracturing fluid to the intake chambers. The intake chambers comprise intake valve assemblies adapted to regulate flow from the intake chambers to the compression chamber. One of the intake chambers comprises an anti-cavitation chamber positioned across from and co-planar with the plunger chamber. The anti-cavitation device is positioned within the anti-cavitation chamber. A method of reducing cavitation is provided, the method comprises the step of inserting the anti-cavitation device into the access opening of the fluid end. The anti-cavitation device may be used in existing, previously used, or new fluid ends.

  • Patent number: 10184470
Abstract: A segmented fluid end is provided, the fluid end comprising a plurality of fluid end segments, each comprising a plunger manifold, intake head, and pressure head. In preferred embodiments, the fluid end comprises three fluid end segments (“triplex”) or five fluid end segments (“quint”). The plunger manifold comprises first and second mounting surfaces, each comprising a fluid opening. An intake head mounting flange is adapted to be removably coupled to the first mounting surface and a pressure head mounting flange is adapted to be removably coupled to the second mounting surface. The plunger manifold comprises a plunger mounting member comprising a plunger opening adapted to receive a plunger. The pressure heads are adapted for cooperative coupling to adjacent pressure heads, such that, when coupled, the pressure heads are in fluid communication with one another. Methods of replacing the fluid end segments, plunger manifolds, pressure heads, and intake heads are provided.

  • Patent number: 9464661
Abstract: A pony rod comprises an outer sleeve and a pony rod cap which may be threaded into a threaded shank portion. The pony rod cap may have an outside configuration comprising one or more flat sides. The pony rods may comprise an integral part of crossheads such that pony rod shanks are fixed to the respective crossheads. The crossheads may comprise one or more wear bridges cooperatively coupled with one or more crosshead extension members. A connecting rod is adapted to receive a wear plate such that the wear plate is removably coupled to the connecting rod. A reciprocating pump comprises a multi-piece pony rod assembly. A method of repairing a pump is provided, in which a modified pony rod comprising an outer sleeve is provided and a modified crosshead comprising one or more wear bridges is provided.

  • Publication number: 20120141305
Abstract: A stay rod connects a power end to a fluid end of a high pressure well service pump where the pump has a pump motor face on a power end which is spaced apart from a joining face of a fluid end by the stay rods. The stay rods each have an elongated unitary body having first threaded end which is sized to be received in a mating threaded opening provided in the motor face of the power end of the pump and a second opposing threaded end which is sized to be received in a mating opening provided on the joining face of the fluid end of the pump. The intermediate portion is of a greater relative diameter than either of its first and second threaded ends and is provided with a series of elongated flats which begin at the approximate juncture between a shoulder joining the second threaded end and extending in the direction of a shoulder joining the first threaded end. Each flat forms a torque surface for engagement by a torque wrench for torquing and installing the stay rod.

  • Patent number: 3960000
Abstract: Disclosed is a flight simulator for missiles. The system comprises means for directing heat toward the nose cone of a missile while simultaneously imparting axial rotation to the missile. Both the heat and the axial rotation are programmed to conform to actual inflight heat and spin conditions and the cycle of simultaneous heat and rotation is programmed to conform to such inflight conditions. Means are also provided for monitoring the proper fuse function at any given time during the simulated flight and for recording the entire cycle of simulated flight. The programmer can be programmed for the full real flight time of a missile such that the time-speed relationship can be matched to that of any real or proposed flight.
