  • Patent number: 11925336
Abstract: A system and method used to deliver a valve delivery system carrying a valve to a target valve annulus in the heart includes a cable percutaneously introduced into a vasculature of a patient and positioned to run from a femoral vein, transseptally through the heart, to a femoral artery. The valve delivery system device is passed over an end of the cable at the arterial side and is secured to the cable. The valve delivery system device is pushed in a distal direction while the venous end of the cable is pulled in the proximal direction, to advance the valve delivery system to the target valve annulus. A left ventricle redirector positionable on the cable from the venous end has a distal end actively steered during advancement and positioning of the valve delivery device, exerting forces that steer the distal nose of the valve delivery device as it moves towards the valve annulus.

  • Publication number: 20240026393
Abstract: Muconic acid is a molecule that can be converted into direct replacement chemicals for incumbent petrochemicals and performance-advantaged bioproducts. Disclosed herein are Pseudomonas putida KT2440 that are engineered to convert glucose and xylose, the primary carbohydrates in lignocellulosic hydrolysates, to muconic acid using a model-guided strategy to maximize the theoretical yield. Using adaptive laboratory evolution (ALE) and metabolic engineering in a strain engineered to express the D-xylose isomerase pathway, we demonstrated that mutations in the heterologous D-xylose:H+ symporter (XylE), increased expression of a major facilitator superfamily transporter (PP_2569), and overexpression of aroB encoding the native 3-dehydroquinate synthase, enable efficient muconic acid production from glucose and xylose simultaneously. Using the rationally engineered strain, we produced 33.7 g/L muconate at 0.18 g/L/h and a 46% molar yield (92% of the maximum theoretical yield).

  • Publication number: 20230412306
Abstract: A system and method for increasing the efficiency of an avalanche relay scheme is disclosed. The system and method include a plurality of networked nodes communicating in a slot and subslot scheme, with transmissions of a first signal from a first subslot relayed in subsequent subslots. The method and system include transmitting an initial transmission that includes the first signal, and then continuing to transmit at least one of a retransmitted portion of the first signal, or a transmission of an algorithmically related signal based on the first signal. The receiving node combines the first signal with the retransmitted portion of the first signal or the algorithmically related signal to determine if the initial transmission is valid. Upon a determination that the initial transmission is valid, the relay node retransmits the initial transmission in a future subslot.
