  • Patent number: 10137502
Abstract: Near net shape refractory material is made in combustion driven compaction. The gas mixture is combusted, driving a piston or ram into a die containing refractory material powder, compressing the powder into a near net shape. As the chamber is filled with gas, the piston or ram is allowed to rest on the powder, pre-compressing the powder and removing trapped air. During compression, forces reach 150 tsi or more. Loading occurs within several hundred milliseconds. After compression, the shaped refractory part is sintered in a hydrogen environment. This process creates near net shape components with little scrap metal. The apparatus used to perform this process is about the size of a telephone booth and can be moved with a standard forklift. The powder may include a combination of Mo—Re, Re, W—Re, HfC and Hf of a fineness dictated by desired shrinkage, resulting in a material suitable for high-stress, high-temperature applications.

  • Patent number: 9892268
Abstract: An extensible deployment system is disclosed that provides for flexible deployment and centralized management of a scalable communication system. The scalable communication system may be segmented into multiple groups of services, e.g. multiple solutions, that may be deployed across one or more servers. The groups of services may each access separate databases in a single database instance that may allow for the groups of services to be deployed and upgraded independently. A management interface may be provided that allows for centralized management, and deployment, of all of the groups of services, irrespective of the independent upgrade paths of the groups of services. The management interface may include a local authentication system and may also be interoperable with one or more external authentication systems, such that users may use login credentials of an external authentication system to access the management interface.

  • Patent number: 9856090
Abstract: A conveyor track assembly section for a mechanical chain comprises a base plate, a wear track profile and a z-spring. The z-spring comprises a first arm, a second arm, and a third arm, in which the first arm, the second arm, and the third arm form a Z shape, and the z-spring is used to secure the wear track profile to the base plate. The mechanical chain is received within the wear track profile. A conveyor track assembly section may further comprise a plurality of placement pins and a plurality of z-springs to secure and align the wear track profile and the base plate. Multiple conveyor track assembly sections may be assembled together to form a conveyor track assembly for the mechanical chain.

  • Publication number: 20160012181
Abstract: The present invention is a method for assigning a qualitative importance of relevant genetic phenotypes to the use of specific drugs for individual patients based on genetic test results. The invention provides a drug-centric integration of pharmacogenetic test information across multiple genes relevant to an individual drug. The invention then assigns a color designation for each drug reported and groups the drugs together on a report according to drug class/therapeutic area, thus allowing the physician to easily and quickly identify a drug from a specific drug class that would be best for that patient according to their entire pharmacogenetic test results. The outputs of the method can be added to existing pharmacogenetic test reports as a quick guide for the physician. Such integration of pharmacogenetic information from multiple genes and drug-centric organization of the outputs should allow physicians to more easily utilize and incorporate pharmacogenetic testing into their practice.

  • Patent number: 9224526
Abstract: A neo magnet is constructed by mixing a neo magnet powder with about 1% added two-part electrical insulating resin powder. The mixed powders are placed in a die and precompacted under about 20 tsi when filling a combustion chamber with a pressurized combustible gas and air mixture. The gas is ignited and rapidly drives a punch in to the die forming a solid magnet having a density of 6.1 g/cm3 or more. The solid magnet is heat treated to cure the resin and is coated with a polymer, zinc, aluminum or gold. Before precompacting a lubricated core rod in place in the die producing a thin-walled, neo ring magnet having a length to wall thickness aspect ratio.

  • Patent number: 8939120
Abstract: A chamber is pressurized with a natural gas and air mixture. The pressure moves a piston and die to compress material to be formed into a part. The pressurized gas and air mixture is ignited with a laser beam focused with a lens or collimator into a point or fine line in a center of the chamber. Rapid combustion of the gas and air mixture drives the piston and die, compacting the part into a net shape. The focused laser beam centrally ignites pressurized gas and air mixture providing controlled combustion in the chamber and preventing damaging detonation. The focused point beam is used in chambers having length to diameter L/D aspect ratio of 2 or less than 2. The collimated thin beam is used in chambers having L/D greater than 2.

  • Patent number: 8718121
Abstract: The present invention provides a test device and a method enabling automatic detection of an imbalance in a power level of a channel. The test device includes a tuner, a power-level measurement system, and an evaluation unit. According to the method, a test channel is selected from a plurality of channels, by means of the tuner. A power level of the test channel and a total power level of the plurality of channels are measured, by means of the power-level measurement system. A ratio of the total power level of the plurality of channels to the power level of the test channel is then evaluated, by means of the evaluation unit, to detect an imbalance in a power level of the test channel.

  • Publication number: 20140123203
Abstract: Unlike conventional methods and systems for locating ingress, which only monitor the upstream path, a method and system of locating ingress by monitoring the downstream path is provided. A test system measures the signal quality in the upstream path and in dependence upon a noise level being above a predetermined limit, polls a plurality of terminal equipment devices to return a downstream signal quality measurement. The test instrument analyzes the downstream signal quality measurements to locate an ingress source contributing to the noise.

  • Patent number: 8649421
Abstract: The invention relates to measurement-capable cable modems for cable networks. Idle receivers and transmitters of a cable modem are used to perform upstream and downstream measurements on DOCSIS and non-DOCSIS digital and analog TV channels without disrupting customer services. A currently idle receiver is tuned to a target downstream channel under directions of a modem measurement controller, and is queried by the measurement controller to perform a measurement as specified by a measurement plan. A currently idle transmitter is tuned to a target upstream channel to transmit a test signal that is received by an upstream measurement system. Measurements are communicated to a central measurement controller, for example located at the headend, which collects measurements from a plurality of cable modems and the upstream measurement system. The resulting monitoring system performs cable network wide monitoring using existing cable modems without requiring additional monitoring devices.

  • Patent number: 8605775
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for measuring Hum on a digital QAM carrier using a testing device for testing digital TV signals including a QAM demodulator therein, and to a testing device implementing the method. A controller is used to sample a register associated with a final AGC stage in a QAM demodulator, and to process the collected register values to obtain one or more Hum characteristics. In one embodiment, a circular buffer is used to collect aligned sequences of AGC samples that have a pre-determined feature of time-domain Hum at a specified position therein. The aligned AGC sequences are then correlated to assess causes of Hum.
