  • Publication number: 20050122722
Abstract: A plurality of support casings for light emitting diode warning lights are driven in synchronous arc movements by a belt and pulley drive system having a compact construction with four belt segments.
    Type: Application
    Filed: January 14, 2005
    Publication date: June 9, 2005
    Inventor: W. Menke
  • Publication number: 20050117365
Abstract: A signal light supporting apparatus for emergency vehicle warning signal lights employing light emitting diodes provides a secure and removable mounting for one or more of the light emitting diodes and an optic of each light emitting diode to a support casing that functions as a heat sink.
    Type: Application
    Filed: November 14, 2003
    Publication date: June 2, 2005
    Inventor: W. Menke
  • Publication number: 20050018441
Abstract: An emergency vehicle light bar is provided with a flexible support that can be curved to match the curvature of the top edge of a vehicle window when installing the light bar on the vehicle, giving the light bar a low profile relative to the vehicle and giving the vehicle a stealth or “unmarked” appearance.
    Type: Application
    Filed: July 21, 2003
    Publication date: January 27, 2005
    Inventors: W. Menke, W. Menke
  • Patent number: 5416458
Abstract: An electrical power distribution transformer of the delta/wye configuration wherein the wye secondary windings are connected in a zigzag configuration and distributed among the legs of a multi-legged transformer core to achieve substantial attenuation of flux produced by undesired triplen harmonic (third and its multiples) currents arising from non-linear loads. The transformer also achieves a substantial reduction in capacitive coupling between the primary and secondary winding by means of an electrostatic shield positioned between the primary and secondary windings and by means of a metallic ground plane positioned as a barrier between the primary and secondary terminals.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 25, 1991
Date of Patent: May 16, 1995
    Assignee: General Signal Corporation
Inventors: Wallace W. Menke, Frank B. Croft, John J. Nay
  • Patent number: 4887938
Abstract: On a work vehicle having a support, an implement carrying swing frame connected to the support by a first pivot pin apparatus, and an elevatable boom connected to the swing frame by a second pivot pin apparatus, a controllable locking apparatus having a boom lock for locking the boom in a substantially vertical position and maintaining the boom against movement, a swing lock for locking the swing frame against side to side movement, and an obstruction for preventing the swing frame from being locked against side to side movement unless the boom is locked against movement, is provided.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 1, 1988
Date of Patent: December 19, 1989
    Assignee: Caterpillar Inc.
    Inventor: Jeffery W. Menke
  • Patent number: 4636132
Abstract: A vehicle boom lock is disclosed for holding a boom assembly in a retracted transport position on an implement carrying swing frame. The boom lock includes a slotted coupling joint on the swing frame, and a deflectable cable assembly which extends cantileverably from the boom assembly for automatically interlockingly engaging the slotted coupling joint in response to pivotal movement of the boom assembly to the retracted position. A release mechanism can be manually manipulated from an operator station to conveniently disengage the cable assembly from the slotted coupling joint.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 31, 1985
Date of Patent: January 13, 1987
    Assignee: Caterpillar Inc.
Inventors: Jeffery W. Menke, Craig W. Riediger
  • Patent number: 4004274
Abstract: A signal light assembly for vehicles requiring positive visual identification for either emergency service or traffic control usage, in which an identification beacon is provided with rotating lamp carrying pod means having the lamps positioned to produce an effective pattern of light flashes and dark periods from remote observation position to the front, to the rear, and to the sides of the vehicle, the result of which is effective to draw attention to the vehicle.
