  • Patent number: 6939602
Abstract: This invention provides a coated thermoplastic film label comprising a first skin layer comprising a thermoplastic wherein the first skin layer has a first side and a second side, wherein the first skin layer is voided and wherein the first side has an open-cell structure; a core layer comprising a polyolefin, wherein the core layer has a first side and a second side, and the first side of the core layer is adjacent to the second side of the first skin layer; and a second skin layer comprising a polyolefin, wherein the second skin layer has a first side and a second side, the first side of the second skin layer is adjacent to the second side of the core layer, wherein the second side of the second skin layer has a closed-cell structure and wherein the second side is suitable for a surface treatment selected from the group consisting of flame, corona, and plasma treatment; metallization, coating, printing; and combinations thereof, and an inorganic coating on the first side of the first skin layer.

  • Patent number: 5134001
Abstract: An adhesively laminated composite plastic film comprising at least two layers of preformed plastic film adhered together by means of an adhesive material disposed therebetween but having preselected areas which contain neither the adhesive nor anything else which is incompatible with said plastic is disposed between the layers of plastic film or on the surfaces thereof. The composite is quite usable for forming into plastic bags by either folding the composite film upon itself and heat sealing the meeting edges, or by superposing the composite film with at least one other plastic film, which may itself be a composite film, and then heat sealing the meeting edges. The preselected areas which are devoid of adhesive correspond to the heat seal areas.

  • Patent number: 5074675
Abstract: The present invention is a bag of thermoplastic film material which includes a top wall and a bottom wall connected by first and second sidewalls and having an open end and a closed end. The closed end includes an end gusset wherein there are two lateral edge heat seals. The lateral edge heat seals are formed by a four-fold gusset. The outer surface of one of the folds can be provided with a metallic surface whereas the outer surface of a mating fold in the gusset possesses a non-metallic surface. As a result of the present invention, a metallized end-fold gusset can be provided with a capability of heat sealing the lateral edges in the metallized area.
