  • Patent number: 11679172
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods and system for disinfecting surfaces within a volumetric space by forming peracids in a reaction layer in situ directly on the surfaces to be disinfected. Particularly, a peroxide compound and an organic acid are sequentially dispersed into the volumetric space, preventing peracids from being formed until the two reactants contact each other on the surface to be disinfected. In some embodiments, any of the dispersed aqueous compositions can optionally be electrostatically charged. Additionally, a system for sequentially dispersing the peracid reactant compounds by electrostatic spraying is provided.

  • Publication number: 20230108403
Abstract: A disinfectant system, comprising a first aqueous composition having a peracid reactant compound that is either a peroxide compound or an organic acid compound, and a second aqueous composition comprising the peracid reactant compound not selected for the first composition. Each composition is applied separately to, and combined upon, a surface to form a reaction layer, within which a peracid is formed in situ, disinfecting the surface. The compositions can have a flash point, surface tension, and vapor pressure compatible for application as a spray, mist, aerosol, or fog, and can be formulated with an alcohol blend that enables the reaction layer to completely evaporate from the surface after disinfection is complete. In use, the disinfectant systems disclosed herein have up 99.999% antimicrobial efficacy against organism such as Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonasaeruginosa, and Candida auris.

  • Publication number: 20200306399
Abstract: A method for disinfecting surfaces within a volumetric space using a peracid. The peracid is formed in a reaction layer in situ on the surface by sequentially dispersing a first composition comprising a peroxide compound and a first composition comprising an organic acid compound onto the surface, thereby preventing the peracid from being formed until the peroxide and organic acid contact each other on the surface. Delivery systems are provided for sequentially applying liquid compositions in a time-dependent manner, including associated software and hardware. An Internet of Things and single board computer assemblies can be utilized to control the sequential application of two or more liquid compositions in a time-dependent manner.

  • Patent number: 9861102
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods and system for disinfecting surfaces within an area by forming peracids in a reaction layer in situ on the surfaces to be disinfected. Aqueous compositions comprising peracid reactant compounds, particularly hydrogen peroxide and acetic acid, are sequentially dispersed into the area, preventing peracids from being formed until the two peracid reactant compounds contact each other on the surface to be disinfected. Additionally, aqueous compositions containing peracid reactant compounds can further comprise ethanol to both decrease the surface tension of the droplets and enhance the reactants' biocidal activity.
