  • Patent number: 9329407
Abstract: Apparatus and methods to increase the depth of field in human vision in order to correct for loss in refocusing ability. Optics variations, such as changes in thickness, shape, or index of refraction of contact lenses, intraocular implants, or the shape of the cornea or eye lens, affect the phase, or wavefront, of the light perceived by the eye. The optics variations are chosen such that the resulting optical transfer function remains relatively constant over a desired range of object distances and pupil diameters.

Date of Patent: May 3, 2016
Assignee: The Regents of the University of Colorado, a body corporate

  • Publication number: 20100066809
Abstract: A deployable image sensor includes a detector operable to generate electronic data in accordance with electromagnetic energy incident thereon, optics operable to direct the electromagnetic energy toward the detector, and electronics in electrical communication with the detector, the electronics operable to transmit the electronic data. A structure supports the detector, the optics, and the electronics. A shell surrounds at least a part of the structure, the shell and the structure defining a space therebetween such that the structure is reorientable within the shell. The deployable image sensor may include a battery array that may be charged using a charging station. A base station may be used with the deployable image sensor.

  • Patent number: 7550701
Abstract: Systems and methods reduce aberrations in a wavefront imaged by an optical system having a non-linear detector. A wavefront of electromagnetic radiation from an object imaged to the non-linear detector is encoded. Data from the non-linear detector is digitally converted to form a digital representation of the image captured by the non-linear detector. The detected image is linearized to form a linearized image. The linearized image is filtered to reverse effects of wavefront coding to form a final image.
