Patent number: 12656005Abstract: A humidity control system and method for controlling the humidity of ambient air is disclosed. The system includes a humidification and dehumidification systems to increase and/or decrease the humidity level of an indoor space and a sensor to sense ambient conditions of the space. The system further includes a controller that receives a humidity setpoint for the indoor space, determines the humidity level associated with the indoor space, compares the determined humidity level to the humidity setpoint, and causes activation of one of a humidification system or a dehumidification system. In response to causing the activation of one of the humidification or dehumidification system, the controller initiates a lockout condition during which the other of the one of the humidification or dehumidification system is prevented from activation. The controller also monitors for an override condition and enables activation of the other of the humidification system or the dehumidification system accordingly.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 2023Date of Patent: June 16, 2026Assignee: Research Products CorporationInventors: Wade Ferkey, Tom Friederick, Chip Seidel, Sean McCarthy, Nicholas Balazs

Patent number: 12359834Abstract: An HVAC system includes a first air quality sensor and a second air quality sensor. The system contains a controller which calculates a differential between the first air quality sensor and the second air quality sensor. The differential is compared to a threshold. If the threshold is satisfied, a fan is engaged which may, reducing the air quality differential as sensed by the first and second air quality sensor.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 2022Date of Patent: July 15, 2025Assignee: Research Products CorporationInventors: Wade Ferkey, Stephen Moon

Patent number: 12345431Abstract: A multi-zone environmental control system such as an HVAC and/or an IAQ control system includes a control module, a primary user interface, and at least one secondary user interface. The control module is configured to control an environmental system and controlled devices, each device associated with a respective zone. The primary user interface is in communication with the control mode and associated with a first zone. The primary user interface displays information to the user, receives inputs from the user regarding control of at least the first zone, and transmits signals to the control module, which then controls the device associated with the first zone. Each secondary user interface is associated with a zone other than the first zone and is configured to display information to the user, receive an input from the user concerning control of the respective zone, and communicate with the primary user interface.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 2023Date of Patent: July 1, 2025Assignee: Research Products CorporationInventors: John Bloemer, Wade Ferkey, Prabahara Sundar Baladhandapani
