The hydrazides are useful as stabilizers for lubricants, greases, and polymeric systems, particularly lubricating oils, as are maleated polymers that have been functionalized with them.

These novel viscous polymers react with polyisocyantes to produce polyurethanes. Polyurethanes so made are characterized by improved flame retardant properties compared with conventional polyurethanes. Such polyurethanes are preferably in the form of foams, especially flexible foams.
