Abstract: A processor having a compare extension of an instruction set architecture which incorporates a set of high performance floating point operations. The instruction set architecture incorporates a variety of data formats including single precision and double precision data formats, as well as the paired-single data format that allows two simultaneous operations on a pair of operands. The extension includes instructions directed to a magnitude compare of floating point numbers and conversions between a pair of 32-bit fixed point integers and paired-single floating point format.

Abstract: An apparatus for adjusting the printhead-to-media spacing in an inkjet printer is disclosed. The apparatus includes a carriage rod that is fixed in position relative to a media support and a carriage for supporting at least one printhead. The carriage has a contact surface that abuts the carriage rod to allow the carriage to be supported thereon and moveable laterally along the length of the carriage rod. The apparatus further includes an actuating means that moves the carriage relative to the carriage rod along an axis transverse to a longitudinal axis of the carriage rod. During the movement, the contact surface of the carriage remains in abutment with the carriage rod to thereby allow the carriage to continue to be supported on the carriage rod. A method of printhead-to-media spacing adjustment, implementable using the apparatus, is also disclosed.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a hair drier with a 3-Dimensional control interface, comprising a housing, a control button, a power supply, a heating element and a control circuit. An electrical connection is set among the power supply, the heating element and the control circuit. The control button has a 3-D control interface and can control each functional element of the hair drier separately or synchronously. This hair drier is single-key controlled and various functions of the hair drier can be realized by easily changing the angle of the button to a different direction, or moving the button towards different directions. This hair drier is simple in structure, easy to operate and convenient to use.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for XML query cursor implementation through the steps of query translation and processing, query result navigation, and positioned update. An XML query cursor implemented in Interface Definition Language (IDL) as well as an extension to XQuery, an XML query language, is described. These steps are addressed by one of three approaches: multi-cursor, outer union, or hybrid. In each approach, XML data is assumed to be stored in a relational database with a mapping that maps each element to a row in a relational database table. In each approach, a system and method provide for cursor movements and positioned updates in increments of a node, sub-tree, or entire document. Given a user's navigation patterns, a system and method is provided to select either a multi-cursor, outer union, or hybrid approach as an optimal implementation for an XML query cursor.
