Publication number: 20140128889Abstract: A delivery device (suture passer or suture snare) that may be used in both open and endoscopic surgical procedures. The delivery device is designed with an internal member terminating in a snare and a retractable outer sheath (sleeve). The device is passed through tissue, and the outer sheath is retracted (moved back), allowing the snare to open. The suture is captured by the snare, and the outer sheath is then released so that it returns to its distal position, closing the snare and securing the captured suture. Since the snare is exposed by retracting the outer sheath (sleeve), rather than advancing the snare, the space requirement for the device is reduced, as is the possibility that the snare will undesirably contact sensitive tissue.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 6, 2013Publication date: May 8, 2014Applicant: Arthrex, Inc.Inventors: Derek C. Sullivan, Benjamin Wai-Man Chan, Amr W. ElMaraghy

Patent number: 7635951Abstract: The present invention relates to an ultraviolet lamp comprising a glass shell and an electrode fixed on one or more ends of the lamp, where each electrode is a coiled wire with a hollow conical shape. The hollowed conical structure of the electrode reduces the thermal capacity of the electrode as compared with other types of electrodes of the same mass, makes the lamp start quicker, and decreases the emission loss of the electrode when the glow discharge is transformed to an arc discharge. The lamp of the present invention has a wide electrode surface area, such that the loads on each point of the emissive surface are equally distributed, thus decreasing the electron scattering and dispersion, and allowing the lamp to resist the impact from positive ions. Due to the shape and structure of the electrode, the lamp of the present invention has increased efficiency and emitting ability, and allows for a longer lasting lamp.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 2006Date of Patent: December 22, 2009Assignee: Fabutech Development Co. Ltd.Inventors: Shi Guang Yang, Jian Cheng Wang, Wai Man Chan
