Abstract: A die detachment device for delaminating a die which is mounted at a position on an adhesive film comprises a plurality of movable plates having quadrilateral-shaped contact surfaces which are arranged adjacent to one another. The plurality of movable plates comprises an intermediate movable plate and outer movable plates on opposite sides of the intermediate movable plate. The contact surfaces of the movable plates together form a combined contact surface for supporting the adhesive film at the position of the die, each movable plate being movable relative to the other movable plates towards and away from the die.

Abstract: The present invention relates to the reduction of handoff delays for mobile telematics applications. In particular, the present invention provides a method employing GPS technology to define IP addresses in a mobile environment in order to reduce delays and transient data loss caused by handoff from one network to another.

Abstract: A low complexity acquisition method and a receiver implemented such a method are disclosed. In the present invention, a cyclical shifted-and-combined (CSC) code is generated by intercepting sub-codes from a full code and combining the sub-codes with an equal gain. The CSC code is correlated with a received signal to find a candidate peak. The other candidate peak(s) can be deduced accordingly. Thus, hypotheses can be significantly reduced. A true peak can be easily and rapidly found by verifying the candidate peaks.

Abstract: An assembly structure and method for an integrated laser/detector device with a mirror at an angle to redirect the laser beam to a medium. The mirror is not attached to the circuit board with the laser/detector as in the prior art, but rather is mounted separately in the housing immediately above the circuit board. This allows the circuit board to be moved laterally toward and away from the mirror during assembly to adjust the reflected beam along a first direction so that it contacts the photodetector. A hologram lens is mounted above the mirror, and can be rotated to adjust the reflected beam to hit the photodetector along a second, orthogonal direction. In one embodiment, two laser beams are generated, and two hologram lenses are used to separately adjust the two beams.

Abstract: A deferred shading graphics pipeline processor and method are provided encompassing numerous substructures. Embodiments of the processor and method may include one or more of deferred shading, a tiled frame buffer, and multiple?stage hidden surface removal processing. In the deferred shading graphics pipeline, hidden surface removal is completed before pixel coloring is done. The pipeline processor comprises a command fetch and decode unit, a geometry unit, a mode extraction unit, a sort unit, a setup unit, a cull unit, a mode injection unit, a fragment unit, a texture unit, a Phong lighting unit, a pixel unit, and a backend unit.

Abstract: A method of replacing a top oxide around a storage element of a memory device is provided. The method can involve removing a core first poly and core first top oxide in a core region while not removing a periphery first poly in a periphery region on a semiconductor substrate; forming a second top oxide around a storage element in the core region and on the periphery first poly in the periphery region; forming a second poly over the semiconductor substrate in both the core and periphery regions; removing the second poly and second top oxide in the periphery region; and forming a third poly on the semiconductor substrate in both the core and periphery regions.

Abstract: A motor is provided comprising a magnet assembly having two rows of magnets arranged along a first axis, which are separated by a gap for generating magnetic flux lines between the rows of magnets. The motor further comprises a coil bracket which is located within the gap between the two rows of magnets. The coil bracket includes a first set of coils arranged along the first axis that are operative to drive movement of the coil bracket relative to the magnet assembly along the first axis. A second set of coils arranged along the first axis are operative to drive movement of the coil bracket relative to the magnet assembly along a second axis which is orthogonal to the first axis between a first end position and a second end position along the second axis.

The perpetual control unit is arranged to create an internal time keeping such that the perpetual control unit is adapted to maintain an accurate current time and date, wherein the time indicating device is synchronized with the current time and date as maintained by the perpetual control unit so that the time indicating device is arranged to indicate a time which corresponds with the time internally kept by the perpetual control unit, wherein the perpetual control unit is arranged to display at least one of day information, weekday information, month information and year information by the time indicating device, in such a manner that the corresponding day information, the weekday information, the month information and the year information are automatically adjusted according to the time internally maintained through the perpetual control unit.

Abstract: An apparatus for determining the blood pressure of a patient which allows the patient to first measure his measured blood pressure using a blood pressure measuring device and then, at a later time, estimate his current blood pressure using a blood pressure calculating device that includes a mathematical model for estimating blood pressure based on a current change in blood pressure induced by a heart beat and the previously measured blood pressure. The apparatus includes a transmitter device that detects the presence of a blood pressure calculating device connected to or in proximity of the blood pressure measuring device and transmits the previously measured blood pressure value to the blood pressure calculating device.

Abstract: Mono-pegylated arginase conjugate and method producing thereof. The mono-pegylated arginase is homogeneous in molecular weight and shows therapeutic effect for treating cancers and viral infections. The method of producing such arginase conjugate has a main step of genetically modifying the gene encoding an arginase so that the PEG moiety can attach to the enzyme at a predetermined, specific intended site. This is achieved by removing the PEG attaching amino acid residues at undesirable sites while keeping (or adding, if necessary) the one at the desirable site of the enzyme. Two exemplary mono-pegylated arginase conjugates so produced are human arginase I (HAI) where a polyethylene glycol (PEG) moiety is site-specific covalently bonded to Cys45 of the enzyme and Bacillus caldovelox arginase (BCA) where a polyethylene glycol (PEG) moiety is site-specific covalently bonded to Cys161 of the enzyme.

Abstract: A method for decoding an encoded video stream is provided that includes when a sequence parameter set in the encoded video stream is lost, wherein the sequence parameter set includes a frame number parameter, a picture order count parameter, a picture height parameter, a picture width parameter, and a plurality of non-critical parameters, assigning default values to the plurality of non-critical parameters, setting the picture height parameter and the picture width parameter based on a common pixel resolution, when a slice header of an instantaneous decoding refresh picture is available, determining the frame number parameter from the slice header, and determining the picture order count parameter using the frame number parameter, the default values, the pixel height parameter, and the picture width parameter, and using the parameters to decode a slice in the encoded video stream.

The photoresist composition includes a polymer comprising repeat units having a hydroxyl moiety; a photoacid generator; and a solvent. The polymer when formed on a substrate is substantially insoluble to the solvent after heating to a temperature of about 150° C. or greater. One method includes forming a first photoresist layer on a substrate, patternwise exposing the first photoresist layer, forming a second non photoresist layer on the substrate and patterned first photoresist layer. Another method includes forming a first photoresist layer on a substrate, patternwise exposing the first photoresist layer, forming a second photoresist layer on the substrate and patterned first photoresist layer and patternwise exposing the second photoresist layer.

Abstract: A hearing amplification system. The system has a rechargeable hearing amplifier and a portable charging system. The rechargeable hearing amplifier has a rechargeable battery, a sound amplification portion which will receive sound waves from between 200 to 6000 Hz amplifies sound waves to between 40 dB and 60 dB and broadcast the sound waves to a human user. The rechargeable hearing amplifier also has an ear engaging membrane which is designed to secure to a human ear. The amplification system also has a portable charging system to charge the rechargeable battery in the rechargeable hearing amplifier. The portable charging system has a single 1.5 V battery charger, and alternatively an AC adapter providing 3 V DC. The portable charging system has a seat for charging the rechargeable hearing amplifier and at least one seat for the ear engagement membrane.

Abstract: Methods of using dyes and associated technology are provided. A dye, such as a monomeric dye or a dimeric dye, may be used in a nucleic acid gel staining application and/or a nucleic acid detection application. Such a dye and a salt that comprises an anion that is associated with a strong acid and a cation that is associated with a strong base may be used in such an application. A dimeric dye, such as a dimeric dye capable of forming a hairpin-like structure, may be used to stain and/or detect nucleic acids via a release-on-demand mechanism. A dimeric dye having low background fluorescence in the absence of nucleic acids and high fluorescence in the presence of nucleic acids, upon binding therewith, may be used to stain and/or detect nucleic acids.

Abstract: The invention relates to a regulator with a reference generator circuit (e.g., a band-gap reference) and a reference generator power selector. The reference generator power selector selectively powers the reference generator circuit from an input power signal during start-up and from a regulated power signal during steady-state operation. The reference generator power selector may also select from multiple regulated power signals during steady-state operation.

Abstract: A television menu system. A cross-media bar menu displays on a display upon actuation of a menu command. The cross-media bar menu displays a plurality of menu selections arranged in a crossing pattern. One of the menu selections serves as a focused menu selection either by default when the menu command is actuated or when focused upon by virtue of navigation to an icon by the user via the television interface device. A display window situated outside the cross-media bar display, displays a preview list of menu actions that can be taken by the user if the currently focused menu selection is selected by the user. The preview list is not a functional menu and does not form a part of the menu system. This abstract is not to be considered limiting, since other embodiments may deviate from the features described in this abstract.

Abstract: Circular stapling instruments for cutting and applying one or more surgical staples to tissue are disclosed. The instruments include various forms of anvil locking systems designed to selectively prevent the anvil from moving axially relative to the stapling head of the stapling instrument. One embodiment employs an elongated gear rack that is selectively engagable with locking gears to prevent axial motion of the elongated gear rack and an adjustment shaft used to axially position the anvil. Other embodiments employ a gear assembly that cooperates with the elongated gear rack. A locking member is movably supported by a handle assembly that houses the gear assembly and elongated gear rack. The locking member is configured for selective meshing engagement with the gear assembly to ultimately prevent axial movement of the gear rack and adjustment shaft.

Abstract: Improved treatment blocks useful in the treatment of lavatory appliances, particularly toilets are provided. The improved treatment blocks are solid block compositions which comprise at least one detersive surfactant, a film forming constituent, optionally a bleach constituent and one or more further optional constituents. The improved treatment blocks provide good detersive characteristics and further provide a film forming material which contacts the surfaces of the lavatory appliance, e.g., toilet, in which the block compositions are used. Methods of producing the solid block composition and treatment blocks therefrom, as well as methods of use are also disclosed.
