  • Publication number: 20240076901
Abstract: An air channel is utilized to ventilate a door lock for the purpose of reducing the condensation of warm, humid, air within the lock. The air channel is configured to be located between a surface mounted door lock and the door panel and vent the space between the interior and exterior locks, including the door bore. In some embodiments, the air channel is formed into the mounting bracket for the interior door lock. The air channel may be implemented to reduce condensation without requiring seals or gaskets between the interior and exterior locks.

  • Publication number: 20240035307
Abstract: A clutch for a door lock may comprise an output shaft configured to operate the door lock, and a thumb turn shaft coupled to the output shaft comprising an inclined projection. The clutch may also comprise an input gear configured to be coupled to an actuator output, and a coupler coupled to the input gear such that the coupler and input gear rotate together. The coupler may be configured to translate between an engaged position and a disengaged position, where the inclined projection of the thumb turn shaft is configured to move the coupler from the disengaged position to the engaged position when the thumb turn shaft rotates relative to the coupler. In the disengaged position the coupler may be decoupled from the output shaft.

  • Patent number: 11313665
Abstract: Embodiments described herein relate to a motorized door lock detection system. Some embodiments of the device include a sensor gear that meshes directly with the gear system of the motorized door lock. As the sensor gear rotates, it drives the rotating contact of a potentiometer, varying the voltage in a reference circuit that corresponds directly with an angular position of the thumb-drive used to drive the deadbolt. In some embodiments, a conducting member that rotates with the output shaft of the deadbolt contacts a plurality of electrical contacts positioned such that they are contacted when the deadbolt is in a position range that requires more precise position monitoring. When the conducting member is in contact with a deadbolt, power is supplied such the output from the potentiometer can be determined. In this way, power to the potentiometer and/or controller driving the potentiometer can be limited.

  • Publication number: 20220098902
Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein relate to secure storage boxes having a lock post bracket attached to a lid of the secure storage box and a lock body bracket attached to a body portion of the secure storage box. The lost post bracket may be constructed to retain a lock post, and the lock body bracket may be constructed to retain a lock body. The lock body may include an opening configured to selectively retain the lock post when the lid of the secure storage box is closed. Thus, the lock body may prevent the lid of the secure storage box from opening by retaining the lock post. Moreover, the lock post bracket and the lock body bracket may include features for confirming the alignment of the lock post to the opening in the lock body. For example, the lock post bracket may include two or more hollow cylinders configured to register with two or more complementary pins disposed on the lock body bracket.

  • Patent number: 11136790
Abstract: A progressive deadlatching arrangement for a deadbolt lock prevents an external force applied on the deadbolt from retracting the deadbolt or otherwise compromising a secured door. The progressive deadlatching arrangement prevents external forces from retracting the deadbolt while still allowing an authorized user to operate the deadbolt. ASSA ABLOY Residential Group, Inc. is a subsidiary of ASSA ABLOY AB.

  • Patent number: 10920455
Abstract: A locking mechanism for a bored lock has a lock chassis, a locking element, a motor housing, a reversible electric motor, an auger, and a spiral lock spring disposed between the locking element and the motor. The motor may drive the auger in a first or second rotational direction to move the spring towards/away from the motor to reduce/increase spring force on the locking element, thereby moving the locking element to an unlocked/locked position. One of the locking element and motor housing has a projection while the other has a guideway for slideably receiving the projection. The guideway prevents rotation of the locking element with respect to the motor as it moves between locked and unlocked positions. The projection and guideway are interlocked to prevent disassembly of the locking element and motor housing.

  • Patent number: 10808420
Abstract: An electronic lock housing for the inside surface of a door with an opening therethrough has an interior portion for receiving electronic components for a door lock, a back portion with channels, a bracket, a plug, and a front portion. The back portion is meant for securing onto the door surface and has an opening meant for alignment with the door opening. The channels in the back portion permit air from the outside of the door to flow through the door opening and housing back opening to the inside of the door without passing through the housing interior. The bracket secures the back portion to the door and receives the plug to create an air-tight seal within the housing interior. The housing front portion is secured over the assembled back portion, bracket, and plug once they are installed to the door surface, fully encasing the electronic components.

  • Publication number: 20200056403
Abstract: A lock having a latch assembly with a bolt head freely movable between an extended position and a retracted position. The latch assembly also includes lock pin that is movable between a locked position and an unlocked position, which may be moveable by a motor and/or biasing mechanism. The lock also has a strike assembly including a strike housing for receiving the bolt head. The strike housing includes a keeper biased to a latched position relative to the bolt head. When the lock pin is in the locked position, the lock pin engages the keeper to hold the keeper in the latched position, and thus the bolt head in the extended position in the strike housing. The lock also includes an access control system for controlling the motor of the lock.

  • Patent number: 10508469
Abstract: A gasket system for an electromechanical locking device includes an inner gasket for the door facing surface of the device. The peripheral edge of the inner gasket and the peripheral edge of the housing of the device include complementary step features that interact to compress the peripheral edge of the inner gasket to seal the housing and mitigate air and water flow into the locking device. Some embodiments of the device include an ā€œLā€ shaped front gasket that is compressed between stepped features of two portions of the housing to further mitigate air and water flow. Openings in the gaskets for lock components are circumferentially surrounded by compressible ribs that extend from the surface of the gasket. The compressible ribs are compressed against the surface of the door preventing air and water from migrating through openings.

  • Patent number: 10435917
Abstract: A door lock with integrated door position sensor includes rectangular magnets positioned behind the door strike to maximize magnetic field strength in available space limited by industry-standard dimensions for the door strike. A beveled or stepped mounting opening for the sensor is formed in a front plate of the door lock and behind a non-magnetic faceplate. The shape of the mounting opening allows the magnetic field to penetrate deeply through the faceplate and front plate to actuate the door position sensor. The sensor may be used in mortise locks or bored locks. In an alternative embodiment, the sensor is spring mounted to eliminate all mounting tolerances and ensure that the sensor is maximally forward and flush against the back of the non-magnetic faceplate.
