The drum assembly is moveable in a lateral direction relative to the handle portion to enable insertion and removal of the drum assembly.

The top portion of the shearing device includes a plurality of ridges that bracket the cutting teeth of the blade members on the cutting blade assembly. The plurality of ridges form channels that expose the teeth of the trimmer blade members, and space the teeth on the blade members of the device away from the skin. The length of the hairs remaining after cutting is determined by the depth of the channels formed by the ridges.
