  • Patent number: 7835083
Abstract: A disk structure is disposed in an optical tweezers device including a light source for producing incident laser light. The disk structure includes a first substrate, a second substrate and a reflective layer. The second substrate is disposed with respect to the first substrate. One of the first substrate and the second substrate has at least one flow path. The reflective layer, which is adhered to the second substrate, is disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate. After the incident laser light passes through the first substrate and then reaches the reflective layer, the incident laser light is reflected back as reflective laser light by the reflective layer to form reflective laser light. A tweezers light field is formed in the flow path by both the reflective laser light and the incident laser light.

  • Patent number: 7535807
Abstract: A method for writing a multi-session recordable disc. The method includes performing an immediate optimum power calibration (IOPC) in the lead-in area of each session of a multi-session recordable disc, determining a recording power for the session according to the IOPC output, and completing the session using the determined recording power. The method may be used in addition to the optimal power calibration (OPC) procedures included in the normal initialization of recordable discs. IOPC provides recording devices with an optimal recording power value obtained closer to the point of use than that obtained by conventional OPC procedures carried out at the extremities of the recordable area. Alternative embodiments of the method make accommodations for recording power variations according to disc velocity mode (CAV/CLV), recording speed, and the basis of the IOPC upon a variety of available data sources.

  • Publication number: 20070139511
Abstract: A method for forming a label image on an optical disk is provided. A label image is formed on a label layer of an optical disk by an optical disk drive. The label layer has a number of virtual tracks including a first virtual track and a second virtual track adjacent to each other. The optical disk drive includes an optical pickup head and a spindle. The optical pickup head has a laser diode. The method includes following steps. Firstly, the optical disk is deposed around the spindle, and the label layer faces the optical pickup head. Next, the optical disk is rotated, and the laser diode is moved between the first virtual track and the second virtual track, so that a laser beam emitted by the laser diode is focused on the label layer and that a spot is formed between the first virtual and the second virtual track.

  • Patent number: 7167422
Abstract: An optical recording apparatus includes an optical pickup unit for generating and directing optical signals onto a given optical medium, and for detecting corresponding reflected optical signals from the optical medium; a focus motor for moving a focusing lens on the optical pickup according to a focus signal for adjusting a defocus of the optical signals on the optical medium; and a focus controller for generating the focus signal. During write operations of the optical recording apparatus, the focus controller is for performing write defocus calibration on the given optical medium to determine an optimal write defocus value for the optical medium. If the optical medium has multiple layers, the write defocus calibration is performed on a particular layer of the optical disc toward which write operations are directed. If the optimal defocus write value is different than a starting write defocus value, an updated write defocus value is stored.

  • Publication number: 20060256685
Abstract: The present invention relates to a system for recording a datum onto a pixel on a light-sensitive sheet. The main component of the system is a recording unit, which further includes a light-emitting device and at least one light-guiding device. Once the light-emitting device emits a light, the light enters the light-guiding device from an entrance and is transmitted out from an exit. Before the datum is recorded, the recording unit is moved so as to align the exit of the light-guiding device with the pixel. Thereby, the light transmitted out from the exit of the light-guiding device is further projected onto the pixel to record the datum on the pixel.

  • Publication number: 20060252267
Abstract: A method of performing chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) is described herein. By way of example, substantially undiluted slurry is applied to a polishing pad. A first CMP process is performed using the substantially undiluted slurry on a semiconductor wafer applying a first amount of pressure. The first CMP process is terminated. Diluted slurry is applied to the polishing pad. A second CMP process is performed using the diluted slurry on the semiconductor wafer while applying a second amount of pressure, wherein the second amount of pressure is less than the first amount of pressure. • Publication number: 20060227206
Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for recording an image onto a label layer of an optical disc. The optical disc also includes a data layer thereon that has a pregroove, in which a plurality of predetermined address codes are marked. Firstly, the system locates a first position by retrieving the predetermined address codes marked on the data layer. The system then determines a second position on the label layer in accordance with the first position. Afterward, the system records the image at the second position on the label layer by means of a laser beam or ink-jet printing. Thereby, the image is formed on the label layer of the optical disc.

  • Publication number: 20060180749
Abstract: The invention provides a system for recording a datum onto a pixel on a light-sensitive sheet. The system essentially includes a light-emitting device and an interfering device. The interfering device has a plurality of gratings. According to the datum, at least one grating is selected from the plurality of gratings. Before the datum is recorded, the selected grating and the light-emitting device are both moved so as to align with the pixel. Then, the light-emitting device is driven to emit a light through the selected grating. Thereby, the datum is recorded on the pixel.
