  • Publication number: 20260009054
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a method of making at least one serrulatane comprising contacting a terpene or a terpenoid substrate with at least one of a cis-prenyl transferase, a terpene synthase, and a cytochrome P450. The disclosure also relates to an expression system comprising one or more expression cassettes, each expression cassette comprising a promoter operably linked to a nucleic acid segment encoding at least one of: a cis-prenyl transferase, a terpene synthase, and a cytochrome P450. The disclosure also relates to a host cell comprising an expression system comprising one or more expression cassettes, each expression cassette comprising a promoter operably linked to a nucleic acid segment encoding at least one of: a cis-prenyl transferase, a terpene synthase, and a cytochrome P450.
    Type: Application
    Filed: June 27, 2025
    Publication date: January 8, 2026
Inventors: Garret Miller, Wajid Waheed Bhat, Emily R. Lanier, Sean Johnson, Björn Hamberger, Davis T. Mathieu
  • Patent number: 12415997
Abstract: Constructs, host cells, fungi, seeds, plants, and methods are described herein can include a Serendipita indica terpenoid synthase (SiTPS). Such constructs host cells, fungi, seeds, plants, and methods are useful, for example, for making viridiflorol. As described herein, the basidionycete Serendipita indica, a non-specific-host root endophyte fungus, possesses a functional terpenoid synthase gene (SiTPS). Heterologous expression of SiTPS in host cells showed that the produced protein efficiently utilizes the fifteen-carbon precursor farnesylpyrophosphate (FTP) to synthesize the sesquiterpene alcohol viridiflorol, shown below.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 11, 2020
Date of Patent: September 16, 2025
Assignees: BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY, UNIVERSITY OF COPENHAGEN
Inventors: Fani Ntana, David B. Collinge, Björn Hamberger, Wajid Waheed Bhat, Sean Johnson, Birgit Jensen, Hans Jorgen Lyngs Jorgensen
  • Patent number: 12378579
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a method of making at least one serrulatane comprising contacting a terpene or a terpenoid substrate with at least one of a cis-prenyl transferase, a terpene synthase, and a cytochrome P45Q.
