  • Patent number: 5422540
Abstract: A high power klystron turning mechanism identifies which tuning channel has been set. A plurality of tuners are inserted into individually associated cavity resonators. A tuner supporting mechanism includes a plurality of screws which protrude to force the tuners predetermined distances into the cavity resonators. A detector detects the position of the tuner support mechanism, and therefore how far the protruding screw structure has forced a tuner into the cavity resonators, which, in turn, indicates the tuning. The detector comprises a preset plate which selectively operates a plurality of switches at locations corresponding to the protruded screws and at another location in order to generate a more accurate tuning identification. The detector may be either a light-photo cell combination or mechanical switches.

  • Patent number: 5281895
Abstract: The channel tuner mechanism for a high power klystron. A plunger support mechanism is connected to each plunger which constitutes a part of a vacuum tube of the klystron for normally applying to the plunger a force in a reverse direction away from the vacuum tube of the klystron. A preset plate has a plurality of protrusions arranged in contact with the plunger support mechanism to impart thereto a mechanical displacement. A drive mechanism is provided for coupling or decoupling the protrusions of the preset plate to and from the plunger support mechanism to which the plungers are connected. A detection unit is provided to detect which protrusion is selectively connected to the plungers.

  • Patent number: 4900973
Abstract: In an electron tube sealing structure, a cylindrical insulator is metallized to produce metallized layers on both end surfaces, and sealing metal members are soldered to the metallized layers correspondingly, so that a vacuum chamber is provided in the interior of the cylindrical insulator. The cylindrical insulator is provided with at least one salient portion at an inner end thereof. The salient portion is parallel to a direction of an electric field produced by a voltage applied across the sealing metal members, and shields one of the metallized layers which is positioned on the side of a negative electrode in regard to the vacuum chamber, so that the emission of electrons is avoided from the corresponding metallized layer to prevent a creeping discharge from being induced on the inner surface of the cylindrical insulator.
