  • Patent number: 5634597
Abstract: In a fuel injection valve, the direct attachment of a protective sleeve to the valve housing has the effect that breathing of the inside of the valve can take place without spray water or other fluids penetrating into the inside of the valve (coil space). The fluid is, rather, held in a space with many passages. Corrosion on the contact pins or on the coil wire is, therefore, ruled out. The fuel injection valve is particularly suitable for use in fuel injection systems of mixture-compressing internal combustion engines with externally supplied ignition.

  • Patent number: 5465906
Abstract: An electromagnetically actuatable injection valves which tear away the fuel stream emerging from at least one injection port and atomize it as finely as possible. One possibility is to force a high velocity component in the radial direction upon the fuel prior to its leaving the injection valve; this is achieved with swirl generators. The novel injection valve has a valve seat face, which in a swirl segment outside a sealing face, is provided with four swirl conduits, which discharge into an injection conduit and terminal port with a lateral offset relative to a longitudinal valve axis. The novel injection valve is especially suitable as an injection valve for fuel injection systems of mixture-compressing internal combustion engines with externally supplied ignition.

  • Patent number: 5273215
Abstract: A fuel injection valve including a pan-shaped protective cap having a radially outwardly extending recess which, together with the fuel injection valve, forms a gap which is so narrow that it exerts a capillary effect on the fuel so that, when the internal combustion engine is shut down, the high boiling point constituents of the fuel are deposited at the radial outer edge of the gap, because of the capillary effect, and the injection openings remain free from deposits. The protective cap of the invention has at least three protrusions formed from its bottom and protruding in the direction of the fuel injection valve to a predetermined axial distance, the protrusions of the protective cap being in contact with the orifice plate of the fuel injection valve, forming an axial gap in a simple manner between the bottom and the orifice plate. The protective cap can be used with fuel injection valves of various types.

  • Patent number: 5222674
Abstract: A stop plate for assembly between a stop shoulder of a valve needle and an inner shoulder of a valve casing in known fuel injection valves. The stop plate limits the stroke of the valve needle and, between its through opening and its circumference, has an assembly slot. During the flanging of the valve casing and the high axial forces connected with this assembly a high edge pressure at the assembly slot and nonuniform deformations of the valve casing may occur. The stop plate includes at least two recesses which are formed in an upper stop face of the stop plate, the said stop face resting against the inner shoulder of the valve casing, these recesses lying symmetrically to a center line of the assembly slot and in a half of the stop plate in which the assembly slot is not formed. The recesses lead to a uniform and reduced impressing of the stop plate into the valve casing.

  • Patent number: 5197672
Abstract: A device and method for injecting a fuel-gas mixture. The novel device has an advantage of a simple and exact adjustment of an annular gas gap. The adjustment of the axial extension of a narrow annular gap is effected by varying the axial spacing between the face end of a retaining shoulder on a fuel injection valve and the face end of the bottom part in the region of the annular gas gap of the gas enveloping bushing. The proposed device for injecting a fuel-gas mixture is especially suitable for injection into the intake tube of a mixture-compressing internal combustion engine with externally supply ignition.

  • Patent number: 5193743
Abstract: A device for injecting a fuel-gas mixture having a cup-shaped gas enveloping sleeve in which the cylindrical part of the gas enveloping sleeve permits exact centering of the gas enveloping sleeve relative to the fuel injection valve. The novel device while having very exact centering of the gas enveloping sleeve relative to the fuel injection valve has the advantage of a simple, economical manufacture. The device includes radially inwardly pointing guide strips that rest with their face ends on the circumference of the fuel injection valve and thus in a simple way center the gas enveloping sleeve relative to the fuel injection valve. The device for injecting a fuel-gas mixture is especially well-suited for injection of a fuel gas mixture into the intake tube of a mixture-compressing internal combustion engine with externally supplied ignition.

  • Patent number: 4890794
Abstract: In known fuel injection valves, perforated bodies are secured downstream of the valve sealing seat and are provided with injection openings the size of which meters the quantity of fuel injected. The novel perforated body is intended to enable simple adjustment of the size of these injection openings. The perforated body has a plurality of injection openings, which by their geometry meter the quantity of fuel flowing through them and aim the injected fuel stream. The provision of steps in the form of grooves, blind bores or wedge-shaped notches, in flat sides of the perforated body defines the length of individual injection openings. The perforated body is suitable for use in fuel injection valve of fuel injection systems of internal combustion engines.

  • Patent number: 4826082
Abstract: An electromagnetically actuatable fuel injection valve which has an internal scavenging system for cleaning dirt particles from a magnetic field air gap. A portion of the fuel flowing in via an inflow line and an inflow opening reaches the vicinity of an air gap defined on one side by an armature and on the other by magnetic poles and flows through this gap, and then flows via an outflow opening to enter an outflow line that communicates with a fuel return. As a result of the described scavenging of the air gap, dirt particles are prevented from becoming firmly attached there and causing impairment of the performance of the fuel injection valve.

  • Patent number: 4813599
Abstract: The invention relates to an electromagnetically actuatable fuel injection valve which is used to supply fuel to a mixture compressing internal combustion engine. The fuel injection valve comprises a valve housing provided with an extension in which a valve seat body is disposed. A magnetic coil is mounted on each of the pole parts and a permanent magnet is disposed between the poles of the pole parts. The valve seat body is connected to a guide via a collet. The guide, collet and valve seat body are penetrated by a valve needle which is connected at its one end to an armature and which, at its other end, ends in a closing end. In the guide is a guide bore which is adapted to radially guide a spherical head portion of the valve needle and which then tapers into an abutment face, against which face the valve needle rests by way of the head when the injection valve is open. To open the valve, the valve needle is moved outwardly, thereby uncovering an ejection opening between a valve seat and the closing head.

  • Patent number: 4807846
Abstract: An electromagnetically actuatable fuel injection valve which serves to supply fuel to a mixture-compressing internal combustion engine having externally supplied ignition. The fuel injection valve includes a valve housing with a mouth piece in which a valve seat body is disposed, two magnet coils two cores and one armature, which has a spherical guide section and is connected to a valve needle. The spherical guide section is slidably supported with its circumference in a guide bore of the valve seat body and in its stroke movement away from the core is limited by a tapering stop opening which adjoins the guide bore. A plastic bushing is mounted on a guide step of the valve seat body and is pressed by a spring against the core end face, thereby preventing a dirct flow of fuel to the remnant air gap on the armature, as a result of which the depositing of soil particles in the gap is avoided.

  • Patent number: 4700891
Abstract: A magnetic injection valve for injecting fuel into the intake tract of internal combustion machines, which is distinguished by particularly good internal cooling. A magnetic coil wound onto a coil carrier is located in the valve, being introduced into a valve housing and surrounds a ferromagnetic core. The core acts upon an armature which is connected to a movable valve needle. A bushing in the core and a sleeve located outside the core are arranged such that the fuel, emerging from an inflow tract of a supply device flows via the sleeve serving as a fuel line and reaches the interior of the valve housing that receives the magnetic coil; after flowing virtually completely around the magnetic coil, the fuel leaves this interior via a bore and flows back between the bushing and the core as far as the end of the bushing, and then flows on through the bushing to reach the armature to flow on to the valve seat.
