  • Patent number: 4908477
Abstract: Organic iodine compounds are separated from carbonylation products of methanol, methyl acetate and dimethyl ether and from mixtures of such carbonylation products by a process wherein the iodine compounds are removed by liquid phase extraction with a non-aromatic hydrocarbon.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: March 13, 1990
    Assignee: BASF Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Horst Hartmann, Waldhelm Hochstein, Gerd Kaibel, Franz-Josef Mueller
  • Patent number: 4663406
Abstract: Isobutylene polymers are prepared by polymerizing the monomers at from 0.2 to 20 bar and from -130.degree. and +60.degree. C. in the presence of from 0.01 to 20 mmol of a boron halide catalyst system which contains as cocatalyst a carboxylic anhydride or carbonyl halide, preferably an aliphatic or aromatic, unsubstituted or halogen-substituted C.sub.4 -C.sub.18 -carboxylic anhydride of C.sub.2 -C.sub.12 -carbonyl halide and where appropriate also a customary polymerization accelerant in customary amounts, in the presence or absence of an inert solvent with dissipation of the heat of reaction.

  • Patent number: 4587307
Abstract: The processing properties of isobutene polymers when reacted with maleic anhydride are improved by a method in which these polymers are brought into contact, for an effective period, with aluminum oxide and/or a completely or partially hydrated aluminum oxide at 50.degree.-280.degree. C., and/orwith boron oxide and/or a completely or partially hydrated boron oxide and/or with titanium dioxide and/or a partially hydrated titanium dioxide and/or with a completely or partially hydrated silicon dioxide at 0.degree.-280.degree. C.

  • Patent number: 4399001
Abstract: A process for separating off organic iodine compounds from acetaldehyde-free carbonylation products of methanol, methyl acetate and dimethyl ether by removing the iodine compounds by azeotropic distillation with a hydrocarbon having a boiling point, under atmospheric pressure, of 25-55.degree. C.

  • Patent number: 4383893
Abstract: Liquid mixtures containing aliphatic alcohols are separated, by distillation, into a higher-boiling alcohol-containing fraction and a lower-boiling fraction containing the other liquids, by carrying out the fractionation in the presence of water and of an alkanal and, over about 3/4 of the column height, in the presence of a non-volatile or only slightly volatile acid.
