  • Publication number: 20220275719
Abstract: There is provided a system and process to predict the petrophysical properties of unclean rock samples using Medical-CT scanned three-dimensional (3D) images at both low and high resolutions. The captured 3D images are passed through machine learning, statistical methods and data lookups to identify the petrophysical properties of rock samples. Also disclosed is the process of measuring phase saturations of a clean rock sample or porous medium using Micro-CT scanned three-dimensional (3D) images.

  • Publication number: 20160069159
Abstract: The invention is related to a method to clean a matrix-fracture interface of fractured tight sandstone, tight carbonate, and tight shale reservoirs. The method involves the injection of at least one fluid into a reservoir, wherein the fluid is gas, a surfactant, a surfactant solution, or combinations thereof. In some embodiments, the reservoir has previously been stimulated mechanically by hydraulic fracturing.

  • Publication number: 20160009981
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method to enhance oil recovery from a hydrocarbon reservoir. One aspect of the invention includes injecting low-salinity water into the reservoir followed by the injection of a surfactant diluted in low-salinity water, and alternating the injections of the low-salinity water and the surfactant diluted in the low-salinity water. A gas is then injected into the reservoir. The invention improves the effectiveness of the surfactant and the gas by reducing the salinity of the reservoir by injecting low-salinity water into the reservoir.
