  • Publication number: 20110021147
Abstract: A method and apparatus for generating alerts once connectivity to a designated short range wireless (SRW) device is lost. Once connectivity is lost, an alert is sent to a master device (such as a mobile phone) notifying the master device user that connectivity to the designated SRW device has been lost. The master device user designates one or more paired SRW devices from a list of all paired SRW devices registered on the master device. For each SRW device of interest, a default or preferred alert method is chosen. The SRW devices of interest and their associated alert methods are saved in a file that resides either on the master device or a shared host device. A background process runs on the master or host device so as to read and parse the user's preferences and, accordingly, generates and sends alerts.

  • Patent number: 7546381
Abstract: A method and system for internationalizing domain names is provided which 1allows domain names to be in any language without having to modify the existing Internet domain name servers. When a domain name includes non-English characters, a domain name transformer intercepts the domain name prior to reaching the resolver. The domain name is converted to a standard format which can represent all language character sets, such as UNICODE. The UNICODE string is then transformed to be in a compliant format. Redirector information is then appended to the compliant string which identifies the delegation of authoritative root servers and/or domain name servers responsible for the domain name. The compliant domain string is then resolved by the authoritative domain name server just as any English domain name.

  • Publication number: 20040236838
Abstract: In a method for authenticating an electronic message to thereby blocking unsolicited messages (“SPAM”), a first server generates a unique message identifier and an associated validation record upon authenticating a sender as one from whom a given recipient has agreed to receive electronic messages. The message identifier is included in the message, as sent to the recipient. The recipient retrieves the message identifier from the message and thereafter requests validation of the message identifier from either the first server, or a second server receiving the validation record and at least a recipient identifier associated with the recipient from the first server. After authenticating the recipient, the first or second server validates the message identifier by checking for the existence of the validation record, and returns an indication of message validation. The message is then accepted or rejected and, perhaps, routed to a folder for subsequent processing, based on the indication.

  • Patent number: 6182148
Abstract: A method and system for internationalizing domain names is provided which allows domain names to be entered in any language without having to modify the existing Internet domain name servers. When an user enters a domain name including non-English characters into an internet program, a domain name transformer intercepts the domain name prior to reaching the resolver. The domain name is converted to a standard format which can represent all language character sets, such as UNICODE. The UNICODE string is then transformed to be in RFC1035 compliant format. Redirector information is then appended to the compliant string which identifies the delegation of authoritative root servers and/or domain name servers responsible for the domain name. The compliant domain string is then resolved by the authoritative domain name server just as any English domain name.
