  • Patent number: 10589022
Abstract: An apparatus and method for syringe plunger positioning employing an actuator for linear advancement and retraction of the support member along a predetermined axis, and a plurality of arm members each interconnected to the support for movement therewith, and each moveable relative to the support member in corresponding different directions towards and away from the predetermined axis. The actuator may be operable to advance the support member to an advanced position for movement of the arm members from an open position to a closed position, and to retract the support member from the advanced position so that of the arm members engage an inside surface of a plunger button of syringe having a barrel located in a fixed, axially aligned position on the predetermined axis. The apparatus and method may be employed in conjunction with syringe plunger positioning (e.g. for filling operations) that accommodates a variety of syringe plunger configurations.

  • Patent number: 8105009
Abstract: A method of positioning lumber in a given orientation in a handling apparatus having a base frame, a longitudinal transport assembly, and at least two gripper arm support platforms with a pair of gripper arms positioned on each of the support platforms. A work piece is gripped with the gripper arms without the work piece engaging the longitudinal transport assembly. The gripper arms are adjusted on at least one of the support platforms in a direction generally perpendicular to the longitudinal transport assembly in order to selectively position the work piece. The work piece is then brought into engagement with the transport assembly and the gripper arms are released from the work piece.

  • Publication number: 20110319783
Abstract: The invention relates to a gas mixing device (10) for an air-way management system. The device has an elongated chamber (C) with a first gas inlet port (1P) being arranged for intake of atmospheric air (AA) into the chamber, the first inlet port being positioned at an end section of the internal chamber. Further, a second gas inlet port (2P) is arranged for intake of a gas (G) into the chamber (C), the second gas inlet port having an injector (INJ) from which the gas can exit into the chamber with an injection direction (ID), the injection direction having a projection (ID_proj) being oppositely directed relative to an in-flow direction (F) of the first gas inlet port (1P) so as to provide mixing of the atmospheric air and the gas. Opposite the first gas inlet port (1P) there is a breathing port (3P) for allowing an individual to breathe through the gas mixing device.

  • Patent number: 7892210
Abstract: An improved apparatus, method and system are provided for medical liquid administration, including in particular liquid medication and/or flush solution infusions. The inventive apparatus includes a barrel, a plunger slidably disposed within the barrel and extending from a distal end thereof, and at least one medical liquid delivery line having a proximal end fixedly positioned relative to the barrel, wherein the medical delivery line is fluidly interconnectable proximal to the plunger and extends along at least a portion of the barrel and in a direction distally away from the distal end thereof. To accommodate the administration of both a liquid medication and flush solution, two coincidentally-positioned medical liquid delivery lines may be included, each of which may extend through the plunger to the valve. The valve may be positionable to accommodate the selective administration of a desired medical liquid through an interconnected catheter interconnection line.

  • Patent number: 7848248
Abstract: A method and apparatus enabling the measurement of one way delay in each of the two directions of transmission from a single location are disclosed. The method measures a first roundtrip delay at a first location between a first endpoint and a second endpoint over a first communication network, and measures a second roundtrip delay between a third endpoint and a fourth endpoint over a second communication network with symmetric delay characteristics. The method performs synchronous recordings of a test signal that is sent simultaneously from the second endpoint to the first endpoint and from the fourth endpoint to the third endpoint, to measure an arrival time (t1) of the test signal over the first communication network, and, an arrival time (t2) of the test signal over the second communication network t2, where the arrival times (t1) and (t2) are used to calculate an one way transmission delay in the first communication network.

  • Patent number: 7763013
Abstract: A first fluid connector is provided for selective interconnection to and fluid transfer with a second fluid connector. The first connector comprises a fluid passageway, an internal member and an outer collar supportably disposed about the internal member for selective advancement and retraction relative thereto. At least a portion of the fluid passageway may extend through the internal member. The outer collar may be selectively retracted to facilitate cleaning of the internal member. In some embodiments, the outer collar and internal member may be disposed so that a distal portion of the internal member is substantially flush with or a distal portion of internal member projects beyond a distal end of the outer collar when the outer collar is in a retracted position relative thereto. To facilitate cleaning, a distal end or distal portion of the internal member may be substantially closed when the first and second connectors are disconnected.

  • Patent number: 7690450
Abstract: A system for operating a hydraulically actuated device that is provided on a vehicle includes a power take-off unit that is adapted to be driven by a vehicle and a hydraulic pump that is driven by the power take-off unit. The system also includes an accumulator and a hydraulically actuated device. Lastly, the system includes a controller that causes the hydraulic pump to supply pressurized fluid to the hydraulically actuated device when the vehicle is moving. When the vehicle is not moving, however, the controller causes the accumulator to supply pressurized fluid to the hydraulically actuated device.

  • Patent number: 7590222
Abstract: Techniques for measuring a one way delay between two handsets over an Internet protocol (IP) network utilize a delay measurement subsystem connected to both handsets and a procedure to couple a test signal to both handsets and measure the response to the test signal. The delay measurement subsystem is connected to a call originating handset to play an acoustic test signal to the transmitter of the originating handset. The delay measurement subsystem is connected to a call terminating handset to play the acoustic test signal to the transmitter of the call terminating handset and to record acoustic signals received on the call terminating handset. Signals recorded at the call terminating handset include a sidetone signal and a signal received from the call originating handset. The difference between the sidetone signal and the signal received from the call originating handset represents the delay through the handsets and the IP network.

  • Publication number: 20090161835
Abstract: A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, an echo measurement device having a controller to transmit a test signal in a communication path which is looped back at an end point identified as having an echo problem. The test signal can be transmitted at a remote location from the end point. The test signal can be represented by a limited burst signal of one or more frequencies operating outside a range of an operating frequency of an echo canceller deactivation signal transmitted in the communication path. Additional embodiments are disclosed.
