Patent number: 6439526Abstract: A jointed clamp for attachment to an inside portion of the top of a garment bag has a pair of clamp jaws pivotal connected at their back ends with a hinge pin, and a latching device for releasibly securing the clamp jaws in a closed position. Each of the clamp jaws includes an elongate U-shaped channel, a resilient block seated in the channel and a transversely extending rivet located at the front end of and extending through the resilient block and channel walls. A vertical member is mounted in and extends between the two clamp jaws in a rearward portion thereof, forward of the hinge pin. The resilient block contacts the vertical member which prevents rearward longitudinal movement within the channel. One of the clamp jaws is provided with a plurality of indentations to hold the hooks of coat hangers, and this same clamp jaw is also provided with a vertical tab in the front portion thereof which engages the front end of the seated block.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 1999Date of Patent: August 27, 2002Assignee: Clemco Products, Inc.Inventor: Wallace London

Patent number: 5887710Abstract: A garment bag is provided having a hanger support attached to the upper wall thereof, and having upper and lower clamp jaws with a connecting structure between them permitting both rotational and translational movement. A mount structure connects the upper clamp jaw to the upper wall of the garment bag so that it is inclined upwardly from adjacent the rear wall to adjacent the front wall of the garment bag. A limiting pin holds the lower clamp jaw approximately horizontally in the release position. The clamp jaws are in the form of facing channels, and have resilient blocks having a durometer of from approximately 50 to approximately 60 in and extending from them. The resilient blocks may be mounted for transverse movement in the channels, and may be spring urged outwardly as by plural, linearly spaced coil springs, and are deeper than is conventional. The hanger support is able to securely clamp and hold both plastic hangers and wire hangers.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 1997Date of Patent: March 30, 1999Assignee: Clemco Products, Inc.Inventors: Wallace London, James S. Deutschendorf

Patent number: 5671832Abstract: A carrying luggage having wheels and an extendable handle, a carried luggage which may be taller than the carrying luggage and having a handle, and a releasable connector for engaging the grips of the handles and supporting the grip of the carried luggage at or adjacent to the grip of the carrying luggage. The releasable connector may be a strap with a buckle, or may have a girdle strap extending around the rods of the extendable handle of the carrying piece, an attaching strap with a buckle attached to the girdle strap, and a suspension strap or straps connected to the girdle strap and extending over the grip of the extendable handle.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 1996Date of Patent: September 30, 1997Assignee: Clemco Products, Inc.Inventors: Wallace London, James S. Patent number: 5590765Abstract: A hanger support construction for attachment to a garment bag has a pair of clamp jaws pivotally connected adjacent their rear ends, and a latching device for releasably securing the clamp jaws in the closed position, the latching device including a front plate forwardly of the forward ends of the clamp jaws, an actuating lever which is connected by a pivot to one of the clamp jaws, and a retainer which comprises the front plate, a link that engages a surface of one clamp jaw which is remote from the second clamp jaw, a pivot for pivotally connecting the link to the actuating lever, and a connecting structure for connecting the front plate to the link. The connecting structure may include a housing which includes the front plate and plates perpendicular to it which overlie the front end portions of the clamp jaws.Type: GrantFiled: November 17, 1995Date of Patent: January 7, 1997Assignee: Clemco Products, Inc.Inventor: Wallace London

Patent number: 5123223Abstract: A door and decorative attachment therefor comprises a sheet covering all or a portion of the surface of a door, and having linear elements or pockets for readily and releasably holding the sheet to the door. The sheet may have visual elements, such as objects or scenes thereon, as by pasting, gluing, printing or weaving, and may have a support permanently or detachably secured to the sheet, for supporting an object such as wreath. The sheet may have a hole in registry with, for example, a handle, which extends through the hole.Type: GrantFiled: September 7, 1990Date of Patent: June 23, 1992Assignee: Justine D. Patent number: 4363388Abstract: A framed garment bag with flexible walls having exterior suspension means at the top thereof and a jointed clamp formed of a pair of pivoted channels disposed in a substantially vertical plane on the interior thereof. The upper channel of the clamp which is fixed to the underside of the top, and the lower channel which is pivoted to the rear end of the former, are fitted with contiguous edges of yieldable material which effect a tight retention of the hooks of the garment hangers disposed therebetween when the channels are clamped together in a plane parallel to the top of the frame of the bag. The upper edge of the yieldable material in the lower channel is serrated or roughened to enhance this retention as well as to provide an impediment to the movement of hooks of the hangers when the lower channel lowered to a limited extent is an inclined position for loading or unloading.Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 1981Date of Patent: December 14, 1982Assignee: Wallace LondonInventors: Wallace London, Kurt L. Patent number: 4252220Abstract: A framed garment bag with flexible walls having exterior suspension means at the top thereof and a jointed clamp disposed in a substantially vertical plane on the interior thereof. The upper jaw of the clamp which is fixed to the underside of the top and the lower jaw which is pivoted to the rear end of the former are fitted with contiguous edges of yieldable material which effect a tight retention of the hooks of the garment hangers disposed therebetween when the jaws are clamped together in a plane parallel to the top of the frame of the bag. When the jointed clamp is open for loading or unloading the garment hangers, the controlled limited downward inclination of the lower jaw provides a convenient frictional guide for the hangers preparatory to their lifting into juxtaposition to the fixed upper jaw by the movement of a clasp of high mechanical efficiency, which movement terminates in a secure clamping between the jaws.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 1979Date of Patent: February 24, 1981Assignee: Wallace LondonInventors: Wallace London, Kurt L.
