    Abstract: The present invention provides a communication system and method for interconnecting dissimilar wireless radio networks over an IP network. The communication system comprises an interconnected IP network and a plurality of communication terminals attached to dissimilar wireless radio networks and the IP network. The communication terminals can convert digital signals for dissimilar wireless networks into a digital network signal over IP and vice versa. These digital signals comprise a call control plane and a data plane which can convey voice, video, and other kinds of data. Therefore terminals of the dissimilar wireless radio networks can communicate over the interconnecting IP network of the disclosed communication system.
