  • Patent number: 6244402
Abstract: A power shift transmission (3) for motor vehicles in which instead of a hydrodynamic torque converter a controlled or regulated multiple disc clutch serves to assist starting. The loading of clutch is minimized by a fitted catch which prevents the motor vehicle from rolling in the opposite direction to the direction of travel intended by the gear selection. Catch can take the form of a mechanical catch, as sprag unit, or the form of an electronically adjusted catch which acts on one and/or more transmission brakes and/or clutches and/or into the service brake of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 6155951
Abstract: The invention relates to a transmission in which the input power is either directly transmitted by an input shaft (2) to an output shaft (17) or indirectly transmitted via a continuously variable transmission (5), in particular a transmission with toroidal races (6, 8 and 7, 9 respectively) which work together in pairs and between which rotate rolling bodies (10) and a planetary gear (18). According to the invention the first power range corresponds to a first forward travelling speed range in which the input power is transmitted via the variator (5) to the output shaft (17) and the planetary gear (18) revolves as a unit, and one other power range follows the first power range and corresponds to a range of higher forward travelling speeds in which the input power is divided and supplied to the planetary gear directly and via the variator (5) which totals and transmits it to the output shaft (17).

  • Patent number: 6085880
Abstract: The power shift for vehicles has clutches and brakes in the form of multi-disc clutches which consist of disc sets; instead of the multi-disc brake for the reverse drive range, a form-locking clutch such as a disc synchronization is provided which in engaged state transmits the retaining torque via form locking and in disengaged state is freely rotatable and thus free of loss.

  • Patent number: 5819601
Abstract: The invention concerns a transmission, especially for a motor vehicle, which is designed as group transmission (1). In order to utilize as fully as possible the traction-speed diagram, the transmission has five manually shiftable gears to which join two automatically engageable and disengageable overdrive gears. The group transmission (1) is formed by one synchronized transmission (2) and one powershift transmission (3) . The proposed transmission stands out in particular by a light weight and small installation space at a low cost of production.

  • Patent number: 5645406
Abstract: A gear for motor vehicles provided with a positive-displacement pump for supplying a lubricating device and the control and activating devices of the gear. The positive-displacement pump is driven by the rotation of a drive motor and is provided with a suction throttle which adjusts the flow of lubricating oil such that a relatively constant flow is maintained over a varying range of rotational speeds of the drive motor. The invention provides the advantages that gear efficiency can be improved since high rotational speeds of the drive motor do not cause a excessive flow of lubricating oil.

  • Patent number: 5643131
Abstract: The invention concerns a continuously variable transmission having a driving and a driven shaft (1, 9) and first and second intermediate shafts (10, 11). Power is transmitted to the driven shaft (9) through a transmission variometer with i.sup.2 arrangement. According to the invention, the input power of the transmission is transmitted to the driven shaft through a transmission branch with constant ratio and through the continuously variable transmission branch. This power distribution reduces the proportion of the power transmitted through the continuously variable transmission branch. The transmission efficiency of the whole transmission may, in particular, be thus improved. This continuously variable transmission is designed for use in private cars and light utility vehicles.

  • Patent number: 4823641
Abstract: A planetary gear transmission having four or five forward speeds and which comprises three planetary gear sets with clutches and brakes for speed selection. The planet carriers of the sets are connected together and positively connected to the output shaft, while the planet gearing for the first two gear sets utilizes a planet gear of the second gear set which extends axially over both the first and second gear sets and meshes with the internal and sun gears of the second gear set, and a planet gear on the common planet carrier which meshes only with the internal gear of the first gear set and with the planet gear of the second gear set.

  • Patent number: 4689733
Abstract: Where different 3-phase systems are connected to each other via two static converters having an intermediate direct-current circuit, the exchange of power via the intermediate direct-current circuit can be interrupted by a severe disturbance, for example by failure of a static-converter or by line or busbar faults causing a short-circuiting of one of the static converters. This interruption means a change in the balance of effective power and, associated with this, a shedding of reactive load for the other undisturbed 3-phase system. To reduce high dynamic overvoltages which can lead to plant components being endangered or to operational disturbances, the firing angle of the static converter remaining in operation is regulated with dependence on the alternating voltage of the alternating-current system connected to this static converter, in such a manner that the overvoltage is reduced. This is carried out by regulating the current.
