  • Patent number: 4250817
Abstract: The method of burning different sorts of solid fuel in a tunnel-like burner furnace comprises the steps of pulverizing the solid fuel particles to a size corresponding to optimum burning performance of the employed burners, supplying the pulverized particles in an air stream to the burners of the furnace and adjusting the supplied amount of pulverized particle-air mixture, and the amount of air in the mixture in accordance with the optimum burning performance of the burner. The burner furnace system for performing the method of this invention comprises a tunnel burner furnace having a plurality of ceiling burners and of side wall burners, a fuel distributor having a rotatable distributing channel communicating successively with respective burners and a dosing device connected to the input of the fuel distributor and adapted for adjusting the stream of the mixture of air with pulverized fuel particles.

  • Patent number: 4143016
Abstract: A process for the preparation of a substantially monomeric methylolmelamine etherified by methanol which contains per mol of melamine, more than 5 mols of formaldehyde and more than 4 mols of methyl-etherified methylol groups which has a viscosity of less than 10 Pa.s at 25.degree. C. at a solids content of at least 95%, said process comprising reacting melamine and formaldehyde in a molar ratio of from 1 : 6.2 to 1 : 8, at a temperature of from 40 to 60.degree. C., in the presence of a basic catalyst in a reaction mixture which contains from 10 to 40% by weight of water and from 40 to 20% by weight of methanol thereby producing a suspension of methylolmelamine, and then etherifying the methylol melamine in the presence of from 15 to 30 mols of methanol per mol of melamine, at a temperature of from 25 to 50.degree. • Patent number: 4141492
Abstract: Signatures of a book are identified with a binary coded indicia on the backbone. A signature verifier having a row of indicia sensors associated with the stack of signatures in the stream feeder of a gathering machine senses the coded indicia. In the event of an error, the verifier gives an alarm or stops the stream feeder. A book of plural signatures has a plurality of indicia on the backbone. A verifier has corresponding plural rows of sensors which detect the indicia and are sampled sequentially.

  • Patent number: 4094782
Abstract: N-acyl-1-amino alkane-1,1-diphosphonic acids or their alkali metal salts are highly effective scale and deposit formation preventing, metal ion complexing, sequestering, and anti-corrosive agents which can be used with great advantage in washing and cleaning fluids and detergent preparations. Such N-acyl-1-amino alkane-1,1-diphosphonic acids are prepared, for instance, by acylating the corresponding 1-amino alkane-1,1-diphosphonic acids or by hydrolyzing the corresponding (1,1-diphosphono alkane) acylamidines.

  • Patent number: 4039493
Abstract: Low-viscosity high-solids-content melamine-formaldehyde condensates having high reactivity, low content of free formaldehyde and good compatibility, are prepared by effecting condensation in an alcohol having up to 3 carbons, then concentrating the condensate and heating the concentrate in a higher alcohol having from 3 to 18 carbons and again concentrating. The final product cures on heating to a hard glossy film and can be added to other uncured resins to improve the hardness of their films.
