    Abstract: A closeable heat-shielding jacket is formed from a substantially impervious flexible sheet of polyurethane-coated woven glass fiber textile. The textile has a substantially continuous layer of polyester coated with a reflective layer of 10 aluminum adhered onto one face. A strip of acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive is adhered along one edge of the aluminum layer for use in closing the heat-shielding jacket. The adhesive is selected to be resistant to continuous exposure to at least 120° C. The adhesive also has a thickness of at least 0.1 mm and is soft enough to conform to the textured surfaces of the heat-shielding material. The heat-shielding jacket material has a removable release layer over the strip of pressure-sensitive adhesive. This jacket material is wrapped around a wire bundle or the like, and the outside edge is overlapped over the inside edge, which has the strip of adhesive, the width of the adhesive strip to close the jacket with the shiny side out.

    Abstract: A side opening heat shrinkable cable jacket having a tube of heat shrinkable plastic with a longitudinal slit. A stripe of pressure sensitive adhesive borders one edge of the slit on the outside of the tube. The adhesive has sufficient internal cohesion and adhesion to the plastic of the tube to shrink with the tube when heated to the shrinking temperature of the plastic. A release layer covers the stripe of pressure sensitive adhesive. The cable jacket can also have a longitudinally extending strip of electrically conductive fabric bonded to the inside of the tube along an edge of the slit. The conductive fabric strip has a width greater than the inside diameter of the cable jacket when the tube is heat shrunk.

    Abstract: A tubular electrical shielding sheath has inner and outer flexible electrically insulating sheets and an electrically conductive sheet shield sandwiched therebetween. One edge of the outer sheet overlaps the other edge of the outer sheet and is adhesively bonded thereto, and one edge of the inner sheet overlaps the other edge of the inner sheet and is adhesively bonded thereto.

    Abstract: This protective jacket of electrical conductors, tubing or the like has a semi-rigid generally tubular sheet body with male and female seam locking members along opposite lateral edges. A single barb-like hook on the male member engages a complementary pocket in the female member for securely interconnecting the edges and closing the seam. The jacket and seam closing members are integrally extruded and have sufficient stiffness that when the seam is closed, the jacket is in hoop tension.

    Abstract: An electrically conductive removable jacket is provided for wire bundles or the like. The jacket comprises a flattened knitted metal wire tube with a strip of hook and loop fastener stitched along each longitudinal edge so that a tubular jacket is formed by overlapping the edges and securing the fasteners. Plural strips of hook and loop fastener assure that the jacket can be kept electrically "closed" regardless of the size of bundle encompassed. A resilient gasket is provided along one edge of the conductive jacket for making electrical contact with the opposite edge. The conductive jacket may be secured along one edge to one edge of a flexible electrically insulating jacket having fastening means along each edge for forming a tubular insulating jacket. The insulating jacket is inside of the conductive jacket.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a method of making a unitary re-enterable shielded jacket assembly for a plurality of insulated conductors provided with a dielectric spacer of nonconductive netting arranged and effective to provide a layer of air cells between the jacket shielding and the embraced conductors thereby to stabilize the impedance of the cable assembly from end to end thereof. One lateral edge of the dielectric spacer is attached to the jacket adjacent the inner shielding layer thereof and is sufficiently wide for its opposite edges to overlap when the jacket seam is closed. The dielectric spacer may be pleated lengthwise thereof to provide pockets for separate ribbon cables, the pleats being interconnected by hinges formed by groups of severed transverse strands which groups are separated by at least one unsevered transverse strand.

The inner subassembly is pleated longitudinally to form a separate shielded cell for each cable with the open edge of each cell embraced by the conductive shielding of the outer subassembly. The outer subassembly being held releasably closed as by a separable longitudinal seam. Conductive braiding and foil is held assembled to and in contact with the shielding layer of the inner subassembly and is maintained in contact with the shielding layer of the outer subassembly when the separable seam of the jacketing is closed.

The exterior layer or main body of the jacket comprises suitable impervious plastic strip material equipped along its lateral edges with separable seam forming members. Laminated to the main body strip are one or more layers of resilient heat insulating material and an exposed layer of foil-like heat conducting and heat reflective material serving to minimize heat losses from the conduit and to distribute heat from a heat tracer tube to adjacent areas of a fluid conduit embraced thereby.
