  • Patent number: 5384962
Abstract: A shearing apparatus coupled to an excavator or similar heavy machinery for severing metal structural materials has a fixed blade attached to a boom and a cutting blade pivotably attached to the fixed blade. An outrigger is secured to the fixed blade in a position to support an end of the material during shearing. The outrigger transfers a rotational torque to the fixed blade to urge it toward the movable blade so as to prevent blade separation during shearing.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 5224268
Abstract: An apparatus for severing a material mass having a pair of movable shears. An outrigger is secured to the shearing and extended across the path of one of the movable shears. The outrigger supports the material mass when severed and transfers torque from one shear to urge it toward the other shear.

  • Patent number: 4423997
Abstract: A grapple operating mechanism (12) is attached to a vehicle (10), such as a front end loader, and includes a boom (26) rotatably attached to the vehicle (10) and a pipe and pole type grapple (11) attached to the other end of the boom (25). A boom actuating mechanism (29) is connected between the vehicle (10) and the boom (25) for moving the boom (25) relative to the vehicle (10) and a grapple actuating mechanism (33,35,36,37,38,40) is connected between the vehicle (10) and grapple to rotate the grapple (11) on the boom (25). The grapple actuating mechanism has one or more actuating cylinders (33) connected to a first set of arms (36) attached to the boom (25).
