  • Patent number: 8401824
Abstract: In a method for determining an output value of a sensor of automation technology, in a case in which the sensor has a non-linear characteristic curve K, which is pointwise specified, help points Hj are additionally produced according to a simple calculational specification. The output value is obtained from the input value via an interpolation of at least two points of the characteristic curve.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 6, 2006
Date of Patent: March 19, 2013
Assignee: Endress + Hauser Flowtec AG

  • Publication number: 20080307879
Abstract: A method for control of a thermal, or calorimetric, flow measuring device, which ascertains and/or monitors, by means of two temperature sensors, the flow of a measured medium through a pipeline or measuring tube in a process, wherein the current temperature (Ti) of the measured medium is ascertained at a point in time (ti) via a first temperature sensor, wherein, to a second temperature sensor, a defined heating power is supplied, which is so sized that a predetermined temperature difference (?target) occurs between the two temperature sensors, and wherein, in the case of a deviation (?target??i) of the current temperature difference ?i measured in the actual-state from the temperature difference (?target) predetermined for the target-state, at a following point in time (ti+1) , the heating power (Qi+1) supplied to the heatable temperature sensor is ascertained The heating power (Qi+1) is determined taking into consideration physical conditions in the process, as such are reflected in a time constant (?).

  • Publication number: 20080036621
Abstract: A method for transmitting measured values between two measurement transmitters, which transmit, via two communication connections, digital signals according to the master/slave principle and analog signals to a control system, which serves as the master, comprises the steps of: transmitting the digital signals between the two measurement transmitters via an additional communication connection; and the incoming digital signals in the receiver measurement transmitter are examined for at least one characteristic value of the transmitting measurement transmitter, in order to find measured values needed for evaluation in the receiver measurement transmitter.

  • Patent number: 7103689
Abstract: A method for operating an automation technology field device connected via a bus system with a superordinated unit and having an identifier identifying the type of the field device, at least one alternative identifier AKF1, which identifies a similar type of field device, is stored, in addition to an identifier KF1, in the field device F1. This alternative identifier AKF1 is transmitted, on query, to the superordinated unit PLC, when the superordinated unit fails to accept as valid the identifier KF1 transmitted in prior queries. In this way, a replacement of a field device is possible simply and quickly.

  • Patent number: 4777331
Abstract: In a measuring system, a measuring signal is transmitted on a two-wire line by varying the DC supply current which is transmitted on the same two-wire line. In addition, binary-coded information signals are transmitted via the same two-wire line, each bit of the one binary value being represented by a group of a predetermined number of consecutive periods of a periodic signal, and each bit of the other binary value being represented by the absence of the same number of consecutive periods of the periodic signal. On reception, received periods of the periodic signals are counted in a first counting direction and missing periods are counted in the opposite counting direction between two limit counts. Reception of the one binary value is indicated when the first limit count is reached, and reception of the other binary value is indicated when the second limit count is reached.
