  • Publication number: 20070269503
Abstract: The present invention provides combinations of pharmaceutically active agents (i.e. statins and negatively charged phospholipids) for treating or preventing atherosclerosis or coronary artery disease (CAD) in mammals, and methods therefore. In particular, these combinations and methods find utility for achieving one or more of the following effects in a subject: (1) a reduction in plasma levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol and very-low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) cholesterol; (2) an increase in plasma levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol; and (3) a reduction in plasma levels of triglycerides.

  • Patent number: 6378715
Abstract: A separating closure liner comprises a laminate construction of a reusable liner portion and an inner seal portion, each separated by a light tack shearable adhesive. The light tack shearable adhesive enables the reusable liner portion to break away from the inner seal portion after it has been sealed to a container neck. The reusable liner portion remains in the closure of the container for sealing purposes. Use of the light tack shearable adhesive permits the use of polyolefin foamed materials as a reusable liner portion.

  • Patent number: 5765357
Abstract: A method for producing a compacted wire strand substantially triangular in shape for making wire rope includes the steps of (i) unwinding a central group of wires from a bobbin, the central group being substantially triangular, (ii) winding up a first layer of wires around the central group, each wire of the first layer being released from a first set of bobbins mounted on a first cage rotating about the central group, (iii) winding up a second layer of wires around the first layer of wires, each wire of the second layer being released from a second set of bobbins mounted on a second cage rotating around the central group, the first cage rotating at a speed 1.6 to 1.9 times faster than that of the second cage, (iv) compacting the strand made of the first and second layers of wires in a substantially triangular die by pulling the strand therethrough, and (v) rolling up the compacted substantially triangular strand on a drum.

  • Patent number: 5057365
Abstract: The present invention provides a process for hermetically sealing a container having an open top. The process of this invention employs a novel cap liner comprising a backing layer consisting of thermoplastic material, a sealing layer and a bond layer between the backing layer and the sealing layer. The process comprises the steps of: providing a cap adapted to engage the open top of a container; providing a novel cap liner of this invention; inserting the cap liner into the cap; securing the cap to the container such that the sealing layer of the cap liner contacts the container and extends across the open top of the container; and bonding the sealing layer of the cap liner to the container to produce a hermetically sealed container.
