  • Patent number: 4699305
Abstract: A drive belt for a linear motion drive system in which a plurality of drive belts are helically disposed and rotated about a driven element to axially advance the element along its axis. The belts include a pair of resilient legs which operate to equally space the belts about the periphery of the driven element. The resilient legs also are adapted to accommodate changes in diameter of the driven element.

  • Patent number: 4583271
Abstract: A burnishing machine and method employing a pair of oppositely disposed burnishing gears. The invention involves the use of two syncronously driven gears which operatively engage teeth on opposite sides of a spline or a gear. In one embodiment, for generally elongated articles, the axes of the workpiece and the gears are generally horizontal. In another embodiment for generally flat articles, the axes of the workpiece and the gears are generally vertical. In both embodiments the gears are rotated at an angular velocity sufficient to hold the workpiece translationally stationary. In the preferred embodiment the burnishing gears have different pressure angles and therefore burnish different portions of the workpiece tooth profile.

  • Patent number: 3994655
Abstract: A molding machine into which nested stacks of preforms or parisons at ambient temperatures are loaded, which denests and applies the preforms individually onto complementary shaped mandrels in the machine. The preforms are made of a thermoplastic material, such as polystyrene, and the mandrels of the molding machine are internally heated to heat each parison as the machine is intermittently rotated. The mandrels are circumferentially mounted about a carriage in the machine and the carriage rotates about a horizontal axis. When viewing the machine at the side at which the carriage rotates in a counterclockwise direction, the preforms are individually applied to the mandrels at the 3 o'clock position by a loading mechanism. From the 3 o'clock position around and to the 6 o'clock position each preform is being heated on its mandrel.
