  • Patent number: 4986764
Abstract: A pair of small diameter lead assemblies as a complete electrically and environmentally sealed matable high voltage connection suitable for use under rugged environmental conditions, have a plug element and a receptacle conditions, have a plug element and a receptacle element physically matable therewith. The lead assemblies can each include annular retention clips therearound enabling insertion into and retention within passageways of matable housings of a multi-terminal hybrid connector assembly, to enable certain existing connectors to be converted into use as high voltage connector assemblies for rugged conditions without housing modification. The plug has a small diameter dielectric annular shell with a socket terminal in an internal passageway; and the receptacle has a small diameter dielectric annular shell having a pin terminal in its internal passageway which is matable with the socket terminal.

  • Patent number: 4739126
Abstract: Panel-mount ground termination apparatus for terminating the outer shielding conductor of an electrical cable and for simultaneously mounting the cable to a panel. The apparatus includes a housing mounted to the panel and having an axial aperture for receiving the cable to be terminated; a flexible termination member having a plurality of inwardly extending, electrically conductive prongs positioned within the housing aperture and surrounding the cable; a compression member having a tapered, inner compression surface; and a housing closure member threadable onto the housing. As the closure member is threaded onto the housing, the compression member is urged into the housing aperture between the outer surface of the termination member and the sidewall of the housing aperture.

  • Patent number: 4696908
Abstract: A grounding strap 10 for terminating the outer conductor 24 of an electrical cable. The grounding strap can include a plurality of outwardly convex surface portions 17 between adjacent pairs of prongs 16 which are flattened upon clamping of the strap 10 to the cable, causing the prongs 16a, 16b of each pair 16 to turn toward one another to retain the outer conductor 24 firmly therebetween. The grounding strap 10 is preferably cut to any desired length from a strip of continuous length for mounting to cables of any diameter, and does not require cutting of the cable or other initial preparation of the cable.

  • Patent number: 4420020
Abstract: A combing device for 90 degree axial rotation of a pair of adjacent cable conductors from an original axial orientation. The device comprises a profiled conductor manipulating channel adapted having an upper outwardly flared surface extending the longitudinal length of one sidewall defining the channel. A tapered cut is formed into the flared surface from one end of the channel, and is of decreasing depth therealong, terminating at a point on the flared sidewall surface. Upon simultaneously addressing two parallel and adjacent conductors into the channel at a suitable angle thereto, and drawing the conductors toward the opposite end of the channel while decreasing the angle therebetween, one conductor freely enters the channel, and the other conductor, after having been momentarily deterred by engagement against the tapered cut, rolls into the channel atop the first conductor.

  • Patent number: 4367909
Abstract: A connector for terminating flat multiconductor cable has a plurality of funnel entries at one end thereof which communicate with grooves in oppositely facing sidewalls of the connector to guide the conductors in the cable to new centerlines for termination to slotted plate ground and signal terminals located in rows of cavities in each of the sidewalls. Signal terminals are located at the opposite end of the connector and ground conductors are located on a common bus spaced between the ends.

  • Patent number: 4354626
Abstract: Wire feeding apparatus comprises pivotal feed wheels on axles which coact with fixed feed wheels on a drive shaft to feed wires therebetween. Each pivotal feed wheel is paired with a pivotal gear which meshes with a fixed gear paired to each fixed feed wheel so that all feed wheels are driven. Auxiliary feed wheels and gears driven by spur gears off the main drive shaft coact with auxiliary pivotal feed wheels and gears to provide a second level of wire feed. Entry wire guides diverge from a single plane to feed the two levels and exit wire guides converge to a single plane from which the wires emerge.

  • Patent number: 4230008
Abstract: A simplified cable splitter for use with flat multi-conductor ribbon cables is disclosed. The disclosed cable splitter has an opposed jaw system which confines and aligns the cable and the conductors therein. A plurality of finger-like splitting blades are moved into the longitudinal axis of the cable thereby separating selected conductors among the plurality of conductors in the ribbon cable. The result is a ribbon cable having a plurality of conductors in a separated condition available for a termination in an insulation displacement contact.

  • Patent number: 4132252
Abstract: Templet and roller means for deploying a plurality of wires comprising a templet block having a working surface extending thereacross to one end and a triangular deploying surface and staging surface recessed within the working surface at a position intermediate of the surface. A plurality of grooves and ridges diverge from the deploying surface and extend to the one end, each groove being dimensioned to receive one wire. Upon positioning the wires upon the staging surface with the axis extending toward the other end, and upon movement of the roller over the working surface towards the other end, the wires are successively diverted into the grooves and positioned in side-by-side spaced-apart relationship.

  • Patent number: 4132251
Abstract: Apparatus for deploying a plurality of twisted pairs of wires and separating the two wires of each pair comprises a templet having recesses extending thereacross in one direction. Each recess has one portion which is dimensioned to receive a single twisted pair of wires and the one portion of each recess merges with another portion comprising two separate recesses, each of which is dimensioned to receive one wire only of a twisted pair. The twisted pairs are pressed onto the recesses by a roller which moves across the surface. A controller is mounted adjacent to, and in advance of, the roller and the twisted pairs extend from beneath the roller over the controller. When the roller approaches the portions of each recess which receive only a single wire, the spacing between the roller and the controller changes so that they are separated by a distance substantially equal to the diameter of a single wire.

  • Patent number: 4125137
Abstract: Apparatus for deploying a plurality of wires in predetermined co-planar relationship to each other comprises a templet plate having a plurality of wire-receiving grooves extending thereacross. The grooves diverge from each other so that wires positioned in the grooves will be located in predetermined spaced-apart relationship. The wires are pressed into the grooves by a roller which is movable across the templet plate. In order to control the wires and to ensure proper placement of the wires in the grooves, a controller member is disposed in front of the roller and movable with the roller across the templet. The controller elevates portions of the wires which are adjacent to the roller and approximately aligns the individual wires with the grooves into which they are to be pressed.
