  • Publication number: 20110264022
Abstract: An orthopedic casting system that includes a cast tape having a moisture responsive resin therein, the tape being wound onto a tubular polymeric core for shipment and storage prior to use in forming an orthopedic cast. The tubular core has a wall with an inner and outer surface in a first position comprising a plurality of relatively shallow convex and concave portions that extend linearly of the core. Each of the concave portions provide a longitudinal trough along which water flows adjacent the inner wraps of the cast tape. The wall of core is flexibly resilient so that the upon application of a radial inward force on the cast tape and the core, the wall will flex to a second position in which the troughs are deepened. When the force is released the tubular core returns to substantially the first position.

  • Patent number: 5925004
Abstract: The present invention provides a lubricant-impregnated porous substrate. The lubricant-impregnated porous substrate may be used to deliver lubricant as needed to gloves or other surface contacting a tacky resin material during molding or forming of the tacky material. In particular, the lubricant-impregnated porous substrate may be used to lubricate gloves during molding and forming of orthopedic casting materials. The lubricant-impregnated porous substrate may be packaged one or more in a container, and the lubricant-impregnated porous substrate may also be packaged as a kit with the orthopedic casting material.

  • Patent number: 5470306
Abstract: A medical bandaging article sealed in moisture-free condition, serially connected with other such sealed articles in roll form. The medical bandaging article comprises an open cell foam layer and a woven fabric layer with several layers of resin impregnated substrates arranged therebetween. The substrate layers are preferably smaller than the fabric and foam layers. A heat fusing web is interposed between the fabric layer and the immediately adjacent substrate layer, and extends beyond the substrates so that upon application of sufficient heat and pressure, the fabric layer and the foam layer are fused together around the periphery of the substrates encasing them between the fabric layer and foam layer. A roll of individually sealed pouches containing bandaging articles are connected together, and between adjoining sealed pouches special perforations are provided for separating the pouches without damaging the seals of the adjacent pouches.
