  • Patent number: 4823589
Abstract: Apparatus and method for straightening the bodies and frames of automobiles and other vehicles. The apparatus includes a bench having a low profile with retractable lifts which permit the bench to be positioned substantially flat on the ground so that a vehicle can be driven over it. The vehicle can then be raised and lowered with the bench, as required. The vehicle is secured to the bench, and a puller which can be adjusted about both horizontal and vertical axes is connected to the bench and the vehicle for pulling on desired portions of the vehicle. Both the puller and the means for securing the vehicle to the bench are attached to the bench with wedges which enable them to be removed and repositioned, as required.

  • Patent number: 4386468
Abstract: A device adapted to be employed in connection with the repair of damaged automobiles and the like wherein deformed portions of the automobile may be accurately returned to their original shape and position. A base is provided which may partially extend under an automobile and is provided with a vertically extending support on which one or more scales may be supported for vertical, horizontal and swingable movement relative to the support whereby the correct distance between two points may be readily set by a scale and repeated to assist in determining the amount a damaged portion must be bent or stretched to return it to its proper original position. By combining two devices, each including a base and a vertically extending support, accurate readings may be made very quickly with a relatively great saving in time. Portions of the device may be inverted to permit accurate measurement of distances from above rather than from below the body.

  • Patent number: 4291570
Abstract: A horizontally disposed support adapted to support a damaged vehicle and formed so as to facilitate certain pulling and pushing operations on the vehicle body and its frame. The support is provided with an articulated mount at one end to permit said one end to be lowered to a loading position to facilitate placing a vehicle on the support. The articulated mount may then be actuated to raise said one end so that the support is exactly horizontal. The support is also provided with relatively heavy strength members formed to provide longitudinally extending and transversely extending slots in communication with each other thereby forming a passageway permitting an anchor member to be moved to any point on the support to resist relative heavy pulling forces in any desired direction.
