  • Patent number: 11511559
Abstract: The present invention relates to an optically variable security element for securing valuable articles, having a substrate having opposing first and second main surfaces and, arranged on the first main surface, an optically variable pattern that comprises an embossing pattern and a coating. The coating comprises at least one imprinted line grid and a background layer that contrasts with the line grid. The embossing pattern comprises a two-dimensional grid of elevated and/or depressed embossing elements. Both are combined in such a way that substantially on every embossing element lies at least one line segment of a line in the line grid, and at least one of the parameters position of the line segment on the embossing element, orientation of the line segment on the embossing element and form of the line segment varies location dependently across the dimension of the optically variable pattern.

  • Patent number: 8998264
Abstract: An identification document (10) comprises a personalized first visual marking (14) that is arranged in a first region (12) of the identification document (10), the first region (12) being configured in such a way that, upon laser irradiation of the same, local darkenings of the optical impression of the identification document (10) are produced, resulting from material transformations. The identification document (10) further exhibits a second visual marking (26) that produces the optical impression of a copy of the first visual marking (14) and is arranged in a second region (22) of the identification document (10), the second region (22) being configured in such a way that, upon laser irradiation of the same, local lightenings of the optical impression of the identification document (10) are produced, resulting from material transformations.

  • Patent number: 8622433
Abstract: The invention relates to a value document, such as bank note, passport or the like, which has a security paper and a marking produced with the help of a laser, the security paper having at least one partial area with a coating, and the marking extending over the border area between coating and security paper. Further, the invention relates to a security paper and methods for producing an inventive value document and security paper.

  • Patent number: 8528941
Abstract: The present invention relates to a security element for security papers, value documents and the like, having a laser-markable transparent or translucent marking layer into which, through the action of laser radiation, visually perceptible identifiers are introduced in the form of patterns, letters, numbers and/or images. The identifiers each comprise a lamellar structure composed of a plurality of substantially parallel lamella that extend into the depth of the marking layer and include the parameters color, width, height, lateral orientation, tilt angle and/or spacing.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: September 10, 2013
    Assignee: Giesecke & Devrient GmbH
    Inventors: Walter Dörfler, Michael Bauer
  • Patent number: 8400673
Abstract: The invention relates to a value document, especially a banknote, having an individualizing mark that is applied at least once each to the front and the reverse of the value document. Here, at least one of the individualizing identifiers applied to the front and reverse is applied to the value document with a non-contact method.
