  • Patent number: 4672844
Abstract: Testing apparatus is disclosed for vehicle steering mechanisms and similar devices for applying a controlled force to a test member. A vertically reciprocable platen carries a hydraulic actuator for applying controlled force to a pivotable test member. The hydraulic actuator is reciprocable along a transverse axis and is connected with the test member by a pivotable coupling. A pivotable link is pivotally connected with a stationary frame and with the mounting frame of the actuator. The distance between the two pivot points on the pivotable link is the same as the distance between the pivot axis of the test member and the pivot axis of the coupling whereby the actuator is caused to traverse an arcuate path when the platen is reciprocated and it thereby follows the arcuate path of the pivotal test member.

  • Patent number: 3974364
Abstract: Structure for and method of compensating for a mechanical frequency response structure induced phase shift of an alternating electrical command signal in a closed loop control circuit so that magnitude errors independent of phase errors may be utilized in the control circuit. • Patent number: 3973197
Abstract: Structure for and a method of detecting peaks in an electric signal comprising circuits for and the steps of converting a selected one of a plurality of analog signals into a current digital signal, comparing the developed digital signal with a digital signal previously developed from the selected analog signal and stored, and replacing the previously developed and stored digital signal with the current digital signal when the current digital signal is greater than the previously developed and stored digital signal and of the same polarity, and providing for readout of the currently stored digital signal in either analog or digital form.Direct reading of the digital output in terms of standard engineering units is provided for. Also, the analog input signal may be directly read at the output of the peak detector and the peak detector may be utilized as a volt meter with a direct current signal passed directly into a digital output portion of the peak detector.

  • Patent number: 3936977
Abstract: A door operator includes a double acting power cylinder with a dual metering valve mounted thereon. The valve unit includes an external tube with a sliding control piston coupled to the power cylinder for corresponding selected movement. A pair of spaced metering assemblies are secured to the tube and each includes a supply-exhaust port connected through a four-way valve means to an air supply and an exhaust, and connected to provide air flow to and from opposite end heads of the power cylinder. Each assembly has a one-way supply passageway, a central speed control passageway and a fixed damping passageway. The latter two passageways each have a small needle valve control and the speed control passageway is selectively blocked by the control piston. The power and damping cylinder assembly includes a mounting enclosure with the controls therein and with the power cylinder piston rod pivotally connected to a tubular drive arm.
