  • Patent number: 5199177
Abstract: A lighted level including a frame having parallel working surfaces and an inner connecting web having an aperture with a pair of notches for supporting a liquid-containing vial. The level includes a light emitting diode for illuminating the vial. The level is constructed for automatic drop-in assembly of each of the component parts, including a printed circuit board containing the lighting circuitry, without requiring wires, screws, pins, pegs or bolts.

  • Patent number: 4836374
Abstract: An attractive fabric covered fitted tool case includes a pair of platform members each having a multiplicity of pockets in their top wall to receive a multiplicity of tools, and relatively rigid support members under the platform members to provide structural support therefor. An elongated base sheet underlies the platform members and extends therebetween to provide a spacer section about which the platform members may be folded into abutting relationship in the closed position of the case. A fabric cover is provided on the outer surface of the base sheet and a releasable closure secures the tool case in closed position. The tool case may additionally include one or more pockets on its principal faces, and one of the pockets may include a pair of hanging rings which are pivotally mounted within a pocket so as to be able to be pivoted from a concealed position within the pocket to an exposed position for hanging the tool case.

  • Patent number: 4583294
Abstract: A housing of a coiled tape measuring rule has a bottom wall in which is formed an aperture for the discharge of dirt and other contamination from the enclosure defined therewithin. The aperture has an enlarged inner end to provide an entrance portion for promoting the exit of particulate matter from the housing, while the relatively small outer end inhibits the passage of dirt in the opposite direction.

  • Patent number: 4449302
Abstract: A power returnable coilable rule has elongated locking means extending from a lock button on the exterior of the casing to below the blade passage with an aperture thereon adjacent the blade passage and through which the blade extends. A lock element on the lower end of the locking means cooperates with an anvil to press the blade thereagainst and clamp the blade firmly therebetween. Biasing means biases the locking means into the blade locking position, and the lock button is depressible to release the blade during finger pressure and both depressible and movable into a position in which the locking means is releasably engaged to permit free movement.

  • Patent number: 4095635
Abstract: A coping saw of the type having a generally U-shaped frame with a pair of spaced legs has mounted thereon adjacent the free ends of the legs elongated anchor bolts with axially extending slots at their opposed ends to receive the end portions of the saw blade. Each of the anchor bolts has a generally L-shaped notch intersecting the axial slot and providing a sloping leg portion which extends from the periphery towards the opposite leg of the frame and an axial leg portion which extends from the inner end of the sloping leg portion towards the adjacent leg. The transversely extending pins on the saw blade seat in the sloping leg portions of the notches until deflection of the frame occurs. When such deflection occurs, the pins are cammed into the axial leg portions of the notches.
