  • Patent number: 5529393
Abstract: A flexible bulk container for the handling and storing of flowable or powdered bulk materials is provided which includes a flexible and collapsible bulk bag component and a disposable liner. The bulk bag component has an encircling side wall, a bottom wall with an opening therethrough and an open top end. A lifting loop is attached to each corner of the bulk bag component near the top end thereof. The disposable liner has a lower wall, a surrounding side wall and an upper wall. A portion of the upper wall of the liner extends laterally beyond the periphery of the surrounding side wall of the liner. The upper wall of the liner has four openings formed therein. Each of the lifting loops passes through a different one of the spaced openings in the upper wall of the liner for removably connecting the same to the bulk bag component.

  • Patent number: 5316387
Abstract: A flexible bulk container for the handling and storage of flowable materials having structural maintenance means attached to the inside surfaces of the container for providing structural support to the walls which comprise the container. The container is comprised of a plurality of walls attached together and defining an enclosure having a bottom and a top panel attached to the encircling enclosure. Several embodiments of the structural maintenance means are enclosed, the first one comprising a loops and rope combination attached to the inner surfaces of the flexible container. Loops are attached to each side of the flexible container on the inside surface at a plurality of levels. A rope is threaded through the loops on each level and its ends are attached. The rope is drawn through and adjusted in size so that it holds the container walls in a substantially vertical orientation.

  • Patent number: 5192134
Abstract: A flexible bulk container for the handling and storage of flowable or powdered bulk materials is provided which includes the combination of a flexible and collapsible bulk bag bottom component having an encircling first side wall, a bottom end with an opening therethrough through which contents are discharged connected about its periphery to a bottom end of said first side wall and an open upper end opposite said bottom end and a flexible and collapsible bulk bag top component having a top end, an opposite open lower end and an encircling second side wall connected about the periphery of the top end which is separably receivable within and generally complementary to the first side wall of the bag bottom component wherein the top and bottom ends and first and second side walls define an interior stoarage space therebetween for flowable granular or powdered bulk material with the second side wall being adapted to be in firm engagement with the first side wall when the storage space is at least partially filled.

  • Patent number: 5161853
Abstract: A flexible bulk container including a bag portion comprised of a top wall, an encircling side panel and a bottom wall. The top wall has a filling spout therethrough for access to the bag interior. The flexible bag is cube-shaped having four corners. At each corner a loop member extends above the top wall. The loop member is comprised of a straight section and a loop section. The straight section extending below the top wall is sewn to the side wall adjacent to each corner. Pockets are similarly sewn to an area adjacent each corner and cover the straight portion of the loop members. Semi-rigid tubular members with open ends enclose the straight portion of the loop members and extend downward into the pockets and upward above the top wall. The loop portions of the loop members extend above the top open end of the tubular members. A continuous elongated hoop passes freely through each loop and is the means for a lifting mechanism to engage the flexible bag.

  • Patent number: 4573204
Abstract: A flexible bulk container includes top and bottom walls and an encircling side wall. Substantially identical flexible fill and discharge spouts are secured to the top and bottom walls, respectively. Each spout carries a cord which can be tightened around the spout for closing the same and a slide fastener on the cord for holding the cord in its tightened position. The slide fastener is comprised of a flexible plastic tube which frictionally fits around the cord. An additional cord is attached to the slide fastener associated with the discharge spout so that the fastener can be slid into its open position from a remote location thereby protecting the workman opening the discharge spout. The top and bottom walls are each also provided with a pocket into which their respective folded spout can be inserted. The pockets are each held closed by drawstrings which are also provided with similar slide fasteners.

  • Patent number: 4499599
Abstract: A stackable flexible bulk container includes a bag portion of woven polypropylene and is comprised of a bottom wall, a top wall and an encircling side wall. At least two lifting strap loops are provided so that the container can be lifted by the tongs of a forklift truck. To enable the tongs to enter the loops without manual assistance, relatively rigid devices are associated with the ends of the loops to hold them upright and opened. The loops are also held outwardly away from the center of the bag so that similar containers can be stacked without interfering with the loops of the container below.
