  • Patent number: 6254437
Abstract: A utility metering transocket for mounting to a wall and for receiving a line wire and a load wire therein. The transocket has a bottom side, a back side, a top side, a top cover at least partially covering the back side, and opposing sides coupled to the bottom, back, and top sides. A plurality of bus bars of differing length are mounted to the back side, each bus bar having a load connector and a spaced apart line connector secured thereon. The plurality of bus bars are further arranged toward one of the opposing sides of the transocket thereby providing increased space within the transocket for routing the line wire and the load wire within the transocket such that the line wire and the load wire can be gradually bent for coupling to the line connector and the load connector, respectively, of at least one of the plurality of bus bars. Rotating line and load connectors are disposed on the bus bars to further aiding in routing.

  • Patent number: 6075435
Abstract: A disconnect box is provided in the present invention that has a rear wall and perimetrically bounding side walls connected thereto. A line wire and a load wire are received in the disconnect box, which comprises a line terminal mounted in the disconnect box and to which the line wire is connected, a load terminal mounted in the disconnect box and to which the load wire is connected, and a fuse releasably secured in the disconnect box. The fuse has an operational position wherein the fuse contacts the line terminal and the load terminal thereby creating mechanical and electrical connection between the line wire and first load wire, and a non-operational position such that when the fuse is disconnected from the line terminal and the load terminal the mechanical and electrical connection between the line wire and the load wire is broken.

  • Patent number: 5906508
Abstract: An electrical disconnect for use with an appliance includes a base assembly and a pull-out head assembly. The base assembly includes an insulative housing having isolated compartments therein. Within the compartments are mounted wire connectors for receiving load and line conductors. The head assembly includes a handle on a top surface thereof and contacts extending downwardly from a bottom surface thereof. The head assembly is selectively positionable within the base assembly so that the electrical contacts of the head assembly electrically couple the line and load conductors associated with the wire connectors. The contact of the head assembly directly contacts a side portion of the line and load wire connectors, respectively. The electrical disconnect also includes a series of wire guides associated with each wire connector. The wire guide includes a tapered opening to assist in guiding conductors into the wire connectors.

  • Patent number: 5775942
Abstract: A clamp jaw/lever bypass meter socket includes an insulative base and a plurality of line and load end jaw-type releasable contacts for receiving the blades of a meter. Each of the contacts includes a stationary contact and a movable contact pivotally coupled to the stationary contact. The meter socket also includes a spring biasing said movable contact to be in a clamped position with the stationary contact. The meter socket includes a meter bypass having bypass cams coupled to a manually rotatable shaft. The bypass cams are movable from an operating position whereby the jaw-type contacts one clamped and current flows through a meter and a bypass position in which the bypass cams are electrically shorting the line and load contacts for the same phase for changing or testing a meter without service interruption. Both the stationary and movable contacts are a one-piece construction. The movable contacts include supplemental contact arms so that current is divided between the stationary and movable contacts.
