  • Patent number: 10611097
Abstract: A system for forming material includes a housing including at least one wall defining an interior space. The housing is configured to contain a pressurized fluid in the interior space. The system also includes at least one tool configured to shape the material. The at least one tool is movable along a path from a first position external to the housing to a second position at least partially within the interior space. The system further includes a membrane extending at least partially in the path of the at least one tool.

  • Patent number: 5285568
Abstract: An apparatus for inserting an expander ring into an inner circumferential groove of a split piston ring includes a first magazine for storing a stack of piston rings; and a second magazine for storing a stack of expander rings. The second magazine has a discharge end and a longitudinal axis coinciding with a longitudinal axis of the expander ring stack. There are further provided a device for displacing a piston ring from the first magazine into axial alignment with the longitudinal axis of the second magazine at the discharge end thereof; a spreader device for radially outwardly spreading the piston ring positioned at the discharge end; and a pusher for pushing an expander ring from the second magazine parallel to the longitudinal axis into the piston ring spread-open by the spreader device.

  • Patent number: 4084421
Abstract: Apparatus for twisting and guiding metal stock into roll grooves, comprises a guide mounted in front of such a groove. The guide has a through path from which the stock emerges from the guide and passes to the groove, and a feed path disposed to one side of the through path. The feed path is defined by a funnel-shaped member having an opening therethrough of about the same size and shape as the stock to be fed, and which is mounted for swinging movement between two positions, in one of which it is out of line with the through path and in the other of which it is in line with the through path. The stock is fed through the swinging member in the out-of-line position and contacts a cam surface which moves the stock and hence the swinging member, into line with the through path, thereby twisting the stock about 90.degree.. After the stock is passed, the swinging member returns by gravity to its out-of-line position.

  • Patent number: 4084797
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for controlled cooling of wire, especially steel wire. According to the invention the device comprises, in combination, a movable conveyor to which wire is continuously supplied in open ring windings for movement of the same in mutually displaced positions, means surrounding the conveyor for control of the temperature ratios of the wire, and a collection device for the cooled ring windings, said conveyor essentially having the shape of an inclined plane which rotates about its center.

  • Patent number: 4024745
Abstract: An improved rod coiling and cooling system includes a coiler which receives hot rod from a rod rolling stand. A guide or repeater section is provided between the rolling stand to effect a bending of the rod to guide it into the coiler. The coiled rod is transferred from the coiler to one of a plurality of coil supports disposed in an indexable tank of water. When a length of rod has been coiled and deposited on one of the coil supports the tank is indexed to move a next adjacent coil support into position to receive a succeeding coiled rod from the coiler. After a coiled rod has cooled in the tank of water, it is transferred to a car, is moved along a first set of rails to a first turntable which is rotated to position the loaded car on a second set of rails leading to a bundling station and a station where the cooled coil is removed from the car. The empty car is moved onto a second turntable which positions the car for movement along the first set of rails back to the loading station.

  • Patent number: 3972402
Abstract: A device for braking rolled stock on a delivery table which has a plurality of spaced rollers for receiving the stock. The device comprises brake plates located between respective rollers and movable to a position to at least in part support the stock thereon. A plurality of brake flaps are movable into position above the brake plates and the brake flaps engage the stock while supported on the brake plates to apply a braking force thereto. The brake flaps are associated with means for adjusting the braking force applied to the stock.
