  • Patent number: 4893734
Abstract: An improved dispensing container which includes side walls, a top wall, a dispensing spout and a closure removably securable to the spout. The closure includes a skirt portion adapted for removable securement to the spout, and with a cap hingedly secured thereto. The cap and a portion of the skirt have matable elements which in mating relationship releasably secure the cap in a closed position. The cap further includes a locking member which is matable with a member on the spout when the cap is in the closed position to preclude removal of the closure from the spout. In one embodiment, the closure further includes a top wall which defines an opening therein which serves to vent the container and at the same time permits squirt-type dispensing of the contents of the container. In such embodiment, the cap when closed closes the top wall opening. The closure is also claimed.

  • Patent number: 4619797
Abstract: A molded, thermoplastic container having a pressure dome section in an end wall to permit the container to hold pressurized fluids. An integral dispensing spout may be provided which preferably is collapsible to nest within the container, and having sanitary seal means over the spout. An annular ring structure around the pressure dome section may be provided to permit the container to stand on an end during filling and storage. Method and apparatus are included for forming the pressure dome section in a previously molded thermoplastic end wall, for collapsing a dispensing spout to a nested position within the container, and for pressure testing the container.

  • Patent number: 4139129
Abstract: A container is disclosed having a collapsible pouring spout in a top portion thereof. The pouring spout is nestable within the container in a preferred arrangement, and the container walls, container top and pouring spout are of integral or unitary construction having been blow molded. The spout has a partially removeable cover secured thereto in unitary fashion with a weakened tear line extending partially therearound, and the cover has an element thereon for withdrawal of the spout and partial removal of the cover. Additionally, a vent structure may be employed to assist in withdrawal of the spout from its nested position. Upon lifting of the withdrawal structure, the vent structure opens first. Thereafter, at the top of the spout withdrawal, the cover is partially removed along the tear line which terminates at a cover hinge means.

  • Patent number: 4095728
Abstract: A dispensing container is disclosed herein with an improved collapsible pouring spout. The container, preferably a blow molded container, has at least one side wall with a nestable dispensing spout secured thereto. Most preferably a wall, top and spout are integral having been blow molded with a bottom being provided by way of a metal cap or the like and applied during the filling operation. Initially the pouring spout is nested within the container and is extractable to a dispensing position. The nestable dispensing spout has a bellows section therealong about which the spout partially everts from a nested to an extended position and vice versa, with the bellows section containing a series of progressively smaller pleats from bottom to top. At least certain of the pleats have circumferentially compressible sections therearound which may be protrusions, detents or both.

  • Patent number: 4082827
Abstract: A process for the production of a blow molded container having an improved spout withdrawal means provided thereon. Process steps of the present invention generally comprise the extrusion of a thermoplastic parison in a pliant form between a plurality of mold sections; bringing the mold sections together into registry and entrapping the parison therebetween at points above and below mold cavities that are provided in said mold sections; simultaneously entrapping a portion of said parison adjacent an end of said mold between angularly presented forming sections, and compression molding an integral portion of said container at an angle with respect to the container to develop a memory bias therein; and injecting a blowing fluid internally of said parison to inflate the parison into conformity with the cavities in said mold, whereby a blow molded container is produced having a compression molded integral portion extending outwardly therefrom.

  • Patent number: 4066190
Abstract: A recloseable, dispensing container is disclosed herein. The container, preferably a blow molded container, has at least one side wall with a nestable dispensing spout secured thereto. Most preferably a wall, top and spout are integral having been blow molded with a bottom being provided by way of a metal cap or the like during the filling operation. Initially the pouring spout is nested within the container and is extractable to a dispensing position. A cover is secured to the top pouring spout and is removable therefrom to permit dispensing. The cover is adapted so as to be replaceable after removal, over the pouring spout to reclose and reseal same. The cover is provided with means internally thereof which mate with the spout or a portion thereof to reseal the spout after the cover has been removed.

  • Patent number: 4027811
Abstract: A container is disclosed having a collapsible pouring spout in the top portion thereof. The pouring spout is nestable within the container in a preferred arrangement, and the container walls, container top and pouring spout are of integral or unitary construction having been blow molded. The pouring spout in the nested position within the container is more easily withdrawn if a vent is provided. The vent may be opened at the time it is desirable to initially withdraw the spout for dispensing from the container. Where the spout has a removable cover secured thereto in unitary fashion with a weakened tear line therearound, and the cover has a handle means thereon for withdrawal of the spout and removal of the cover, the present invention adds a further feature of a V or similar shaped undercut adjacent the weakened tear line between the cover and the pouring spout. Upon lifting of the cover handle, the V shaped undercut section opens first and accomplishes a double result.
