Patent number: 5054971Abstract: The present invention refers to an apparatus for removing damaged portions of rubber components, in particular of steel-braced radial-ply tyres, including a driven and rotating tool. The tool (1) consists of a sleeve whose wall thickness tapers like a knife in the tool operating direction thus forming essentially an edge (9) and the front edge (9) of the tool has formed therein notches (7). It will be expedient when the outer circumferential surface (11) of the sleeve extends essentially parallel to the axis (13) thereof, and it will be expedient when the inner circumferential surface (15) extends at an oblique angle outwards in the front area of the sleeve. The sleeve can consist of a cutting crown (3) and of a carrier sleeve (5), the cutting crown (3) being preferably made of a material of high hardness, in particular of hard metal (FIG. 1).Type: GrantFiled: February 15, 1990Date of Patent: October 8, 1991Assignee: Entwicklungszentrum fur ZerspanungstechnikInventors: Walter Kieninger, Ernst Funer, Herbert Hetzinger

Patent number: 4964763Abstract: For machining operations employing cutter heads, use is made of wear-resistant cutting materials, and the cutter heads are operated at constantly increasing cutting speeds and, for coarse machining operations, with high cutting forces. This requires on the one hand a highly reliable mounting of the individual cutter blades or cutter blade carriers, respectively, and on the other hand the possibility of axially and radially adjusting the cutter elements in the micrometer range for the compensation of wear. The invention provides a cutter head provided with cutter blade carriers (8) having an axial guide stem (9) and a cutter blade mounting portion (10), the guide stem (9) being received in an eccentric bushing (17) acting as a radial adjustment bushing, and coupled therewith for axial adjustment. The eccentric bushing (17) is retained in the main body (2) of the cutter head (1) at an axially fixed position for rotation in the circumferential direction.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 1989Date of Patent: October 23, 1990Assignee: Entwicklungszentrum fur Zerspanungstechnik GmbH & Co. Patent number: 4848977Abstract: In known cutter heads, the centrifugal forces occurring at high rotational speeds may cause the occurrence of dilatations permitting the cutting edges of the cutting tools to shift from their adjusted positions. An object of the invention is the provision of a cutter head capable of being accurately and reliably adjusted for operation also at high rotational speeds.According to the invention, a clamping wedge 13 is provided with a skewed clamping surface 21b adapted to cooperate with a contact surface 21a of a cutter blade carrier 2 for clamping it in a groove 20 of a mounting body 1. The invention also proposes the provision of a prism wedge clamping system 10 for supporting the cutter head carrier 2 in the radial direction relative to the mounting body 1.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 1988Date of Patent: July 18, 1989Assignee: Entwicklungszentrum fur ZerspanungstechnikInventor: Walter Kieninger

Patent number: 4692069Abstract: The invention relates to a cutter head having a substantially cylindrical main body and a plurality of replaceably cutting elements disposed at the periphery of said main body and having at least one cutting edge in the axial and/or radial direction of said main body. For achieving a reliable three-dimensional adjustment of the cutting members within extremely close tolerances, each cutting member is mounted on a carrier member itself mounted on said main body and adapted to be radially and axially adjusted relative to the main body by means of separate adjustment means disposed between said main body and said carrier member, and to be fixed relative to said main body with the aid of clamping means.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 1985Date of Patent: September 8, 1987Assignee: Walter Kieninger GmbHInventor: Walter Kieninger

Patent number: 4627771Abstract: In a milling tool with a disc-shaped base member 1 having a central securement bore 2 and provided, in the region of its outer periphery, with equidistantly spaced retainer cutouts open towards the front face of the base member, for receiving and for retaining the respective cutting plate support 4, which is adapted and fixedly secured in the respective retainer cutout 3 for selective adjustment both in an axial as well as, independently therefrom, in a radial direction. Each support 4 carries a cutting plate 6 or 62 whose main plane is disposed generally radially.Type: GrantFiled: January 16, 1985Date of Patent: December 9, 1986Inventor: Walter Kieninger
