  • Patent number: 4465112
Abstract: Apparatus for the clean filling of toner from a container into a developer station reservoir in a non-mechanical printing or copying machine comprises a laterally disposed guide trough having a centering portion at one end and a seating surface disposed adjacent the fill opening of the reservoir at the other end. A pivot recess is disposed between the centering trough and the seating surface to provide a pivot line about which a container can be laterally inverted from an initial upstanding position in the centering trough to a laterally disposed position in the seating surface with the container opening overlying the fill hole. Subsequently, the container is vertically inverted into the fill hole where the discharge end of the container rests against stop pins disposed in the hole.

  • Patent number: 4460266
Abstract: In a developer station for an electrophotographic printing or copying machine, there is provided a developer drum apparatus for producing optimum inking density and resolution of the charge images being passed through the developer station on a charge image carrier. The apparatus comprises a rotating hollow cylinder within which is contained a stationary magnet arrangement in the form of a series of rows of permanent magnets, each row being disposed longitudinally with the cylinder, supported on a stator carrier. The first row of magnets is disposed adjacent the lower end of the cylinder for attracting developer mix particles from the floor of the developer station housing and the succeeding rows of magnets are disposed along the transport path of particles on the cylinder to promote transport of the mix upwardly on the cylinder to an inking gap area with the charge image carrier.

  • Patent number: 4457613
Abstract: In a developer station for an electrophotographic printing or copying machine, there is provided mixing apparatus for mixing fresh toner with developer mix particles and maintaining an adequate concentration of toner in the developer mix particles being picked up and carried for inking by the developer drum. The apparatus comprises a first mixing screw disposed along the floor of the developer station for conducting particles in a first direction along the length of the developer drum and a second mixing screw disposed in a partitioned off mixing chamber lying above the level of the first mixing screw which receives a portion of the developer particles carried by the developer drum off one end of the drum by means of a scraper plate. The second mixing screw is disposed in the mixing chamber for passing particles in a direction opposite to that of the conveying direction of the first mixing screw.

  • Patent number: 4451133
Abstract: In a developer station for an electrophotographic printing or copying machine, there is provided a simplified arrangement for the automatic removal of spent or tired developer mix particles in preparation for replenishment with a fresh supply of developer mix. A drain opening is provided at the discharge end of one mixing screw disposed in a mixing chamber portion of the developer station. Flow through this drain opening is prevented during normal developer operation. For removal of the mix particles from the station, flow through the drain opening is unblocked and a pivotable stripper plate is disposed between the magnetic drum and the mixing chamber screw for conducting developer mix spilled off the rotating magnetic drum to the mixing chamber screw, whereupon this screw conducts the mix particles to the discharge opening and out of the developer station.

  • Patent number: 4415257
Abstract: A pressure device for applying pressure to a web-like image-receiving material, such as a continuous paper web in the transfer station of a non-mechanical printer or copier, has a C-shaped pressure bar which extends over the width of the image-receiving material and is open on a side adjacent to the image-receiving material and which is pivotable about a point disposed above the pressure bar, and a solenoid having a movable plunger which is connected via a linkage to a pin carried on the rear of the pressure plate such that when the solenoid is in a normal rest condition the pressure bar is forced against the image-receiving material such that the image-receiving material presses against the surface of a rotating intermediate image carrier having an electrostatically held toner image thereon for transferring the image to the image-receiving material.

  • Patent number: 4306800
Abstract: Apparatus for printing of toner images wherein characters to be printed are produced on an intermediate carrier (ZT); for example, a photoconductive drum and transferred at a printing station (US) onto a recording carrier (AT) with continuous movement of the recording carrier. In order to start and stop the movement of the recording carrier there is provided, behind the printing station, a feed means (VR) engaging the recording carrier (AT) which has a drive shaft (VRW) of a drive installation with an electromagnetic coupling (EMK) and an electromagnetic brake (EMB). In order to be able to swing the recording carrier (AT) to the intermediate carrier (ZT) and to swing it away, respectively, a polarized drawing magnet (HM) is provided at the printing station.
