Abstract: A rack for supporting a cathode-ray tube during sealing of the screen portion of the tube to the bulb cone portion of the tube is disclosed. The rack includes tubing mounted to the rack through which gas can be blown into the tube. An exit end section of the tubing is of flexible design and includes a helical spring and a plurality of resilient leaf spring tongues for aligning the tubing in the neck of the cathode-ray tube.

Abstract: The electron gun system of a color picture tube has coined depressions in the area of the apertures for the electron beams in at least one grid electrode, the coined depressions in one side of the grid electrode being concave. Preferably, this is the side of the grid electrode facing the cathode.

The free ends of the retaining springs (6) extend into the corners of the faceplate (1), where they rest on spherical ends (10) of studs (5). The ends of the retaining springs (6) are bent so as to be perpendicular to the longitudinal axes of the studs (5).

Abstract: In addition to the correction magnets commonly used in the electron-gun system of a color-picture tube for color purity and dynamic convergence, one or more additional correction magnets are fixed in or on the electron-gun system. During final adjustment of the color-picture tube, the usual and additional correction magnets are adjusted in turn using the same magnetizer.

Abstract: A cathode-ray tube 10 with a deflection system 15 and an electron gun 14 having a magnetic ring 19 attached thereto is designed so that the magnetic ring 19 is not covered by the deflection system 15. To achieve this, the magnetic ring 19 is placed further to the back of the color-picture tube 10 than in conventional tubes, and/or the deflection system 15 is made shorter at the back. On an adjusting apparatus comprising both a magnetizing device and a deflection-system-positioning device, the magnetization of the magnetic ring and the positioning of the deflection system of such a tube 10 can be performed simultaneously and independent of each other. The measure can be taken on all tubes having a deflection system 15 and a magnetic ring 19 for adjusting the positions of at least two electron beams; in the case of color-picture tubes, color purity and static convergence are adjusted with such a ring.

Abstract: A magnetic ring for adjusting color purity and convergence is secured to the electron gun of a color-picture tube. It encloses an oblong area which is perpendicular to the plane defined by the three electron beams produced by the electron gun. The shape of the magnetic ring is chosen so that the y-distance of the ring from the central axis of the central electron beam is greater than the distance of the ring from the respective central axis of an outer electron beam. This selection of distances influences the focus of the beams.

Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for magnetizing the convergence device of a color-picture tube including electrically excitable coils disposed around the tube neck and having their axes located in the convergence device plane. The cross sections of the coils in the convergence-device plane are greater than those perpendicular to this plane. This adaptation of the symmetry of the magnetizing coils to the symmetry of the convergence device makes it possible to exert a strong influence on the convergence device.

Abstract: To adjust the convergence, raster and purity of an in-line color-picture tube, an oval magnetizable wire ring is mounted on the electron-gun system in such a way that its long axis lies in the plane of the electron beams. This arrangement permits both the conventional joint movement of the electron beams and movement of the beams independently of each other.

Abstract: The present invention relates to providing a defined bearing surface for the deflection system of a color-picture tube and to obtain a mounting not subject to ageing. This bearing surface is molded to the cone of the tube as a glass ring or as glass ring sectors to which the deflection system is attached by means of a cap. No additional operations are required.

Abstract: The deflection-coil holder for holding in position the toroidal core together with the deflection coils is mounted and adjusted with the aid of straddling dowels floatingly retained in the deflection-coil holder and engaging into sleeve carriers arranged on a mounting member which is secured to the cathode-ray tube envelope.
