  • Patent number: 7286916
Abstract: In a method for defining the time and scope of maintenance operations for a system having a plurality of maintenance items, each of which should be carried out within an assigned tolerance range, a minimum maintenance interval between successive maintenance operations is predefined. The timing of a maintenance operation is predictively fixed at at least that tolerance range end point which is the first of the tolerance range end points of maintenance items relating to maintenance times to follow the time of a preceding maintenance operation while complying with the minimum maintenance interval. At least those maintenance operations whose tolerance range end points occur before the predicted subsequent maintenance time are defined as the scope of the imminent maintenance operation.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: October 23, 2007
    Assignee: DaimlerChrysler AG
Inventors: Robert Hoeflacher, Rainer Kaufmann, Walter Kostelezky, Kurt Lay, Rupert Reiger

  • Patent number: 4525782
Abstract: A process and apparatus for determining maintenance and servicing intervals on motor vehicles which makes it possible to carry out maintenance or servicing work as a function of the states of wear of the operating parameters to be maintained, wherein values corresponding to the particular states of wear of the operating parameters are fed to a computing unit, and by comparison with values filed in its store the computing unit displays a recommendation to carry out the maintenance work when an operating parameter has approached or reached the wear limit. The motor vehicle driver can thus see which driving behavior to adopt in order to achieve as long a maintenance interval as possible, so that he has an incentive to drive economically. Practice of the invention assures that parts are exchanged or renewed only when this is actually necessary.

  • Patent number: 4484280
Abstract: A system for controlling the propulsion on motor vehicles which not only enables the output torque of the drive unit of the vehicle to be utilized in an optimum manner in critical driving situations, especially under extreme road conditions, but also endows the vehicle with good stability and enhanced driving safety. A comparator is provided, in a propulsion control system which is triggered by at least one presettable or permanently preset threshold value of the speed of the vehicle, and generating an output signal causing the drive torque to be reduced, as soon as this threshold value is exceeded and a signal is present, which indicates that an individual wheel brake is being activated and/or that one of the driven wheels is tending to spin. The threshold value of the speed of the vehicle, which value governs the control process, is preferably regulated in accordance with the transverse acceleration which acts on the vehicle whenever it follows a curved path.

  • Patent number: 4158841
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the control of the safety distance of a vehicle with respect to preceding objects wherein various measurements and controls are effected so as to provide control magnitudes for enabling prevention of a collision of the vehicle with an object.

  • Patent number: 4095551
Abstract: An indicating arrangement for a distance warning system in motor vehicles which are equipped with measuring and evaluating devices for determining the distance of the vehicle to an obstacle disposed in front thereof and for determining the approach velocity to this vehicle; a desired value is thereby derived from the determined values for the brake deceleration necessary for the avoidance of a collision and an actual value is determined from the actual deceleration values attained during the braking operation whereby only the difference or the ratio of desired and actual value is thereby indicated to the driver.
