    Abstract: A cylinder head of light metal for connection by threaded fasteners with a cylinder or crankcase of an internal combustion engine has an insert formed in the head at the hottest spot thereof in the vicinity of the exhaust passage and at a mounting location of the head. The insert is of a material having a high temperature and high pressure resistance to creep so as to substantially avoid any plastic deformation of the cylinder head.
